Re: Interesting APAR OA17891

2006-12-13 Thread Brian Peterson
That publication only lists ++HOLD REASON(DOC) text, as well as APARs
closed DOC.

The URL I cited was in the text of the ++HOLD REASON(ACTION) for the PTF,
so I would not expect it in that book.

Re: Interesting APAR OA17891

2006-12-12 Thread Brian Peterson
If you use DB2, and you run program IFAURP to create a monthly measured
usage report, read on.

The PTFs for this APAR are now available. For z/OS 1.7, the PTF was
UA30581.

Carefully review the ++HOLD ACTION in the PTFs for the IBM web site URL
which describes this in much more detail, and provides a tool for
estimating the impact of this change prior to installing the PTF.
Interestingly, the IBM web site address is not in google, perhaps because
of a "robots nofollow" command in the html (I'm not an html expert). For
this reason, I am not posting the URL here - it's in the PTF ++HOLD ACTION
text.

I ran the ulctool against my last month's SMF data, and got an eyepopping
increase in CPU charged to us for DB2.

2006-11-14 Thread Brian Peterson
I checked last Friday when you posted this, and the APAR had been reopened
so that the closing text was not there. It's now closed again, and the
most interesting line of text I saw was the following:

  Additional keywords: ZAAP/K

The rest of the APAR text is very vague, I thought, but the
above "additional keyword" seems to clarify the problem.

Folks who use MULC (or, as the APAR calls it ULC) and have ZAAP, had best
pay attention to this APAR.
