I tried the same on ShopzSeries. UK21373 is available, UK21449 is not.
I also tried to make an oredr with PK and AK numbers. Result: not found.
I tried ServiceLink: both PTFs are unavailable.

Any clue ???

Contact the IBM Support Center and request the fixes.

RETAIN shows the APAR number when I browse that PTF number. And no, the
APAR is not related to system integrity or security.

(In any case, as far as I know the PTF will always link to the APAR, but
for a security/integrity APAR you won't be able to see the APAR itself.)

I just get held by two APARs:
AK34959 and AK33471. Those APARs can be found ...under PK34595 and
PK33471.

I guess PKn is APAR number, and AKn is APAR fix number.
Correct. The convention for ++APAR fixes is that the first version
issued replaces the first character of the APAR number with A, so
PK34595 has a fix of ++APAR(AK34595). If a second version of the fix is
issued, it will start with B, etc.

Really? I have never seen that. Walt, do you have an example?

Where are the fixes available?
Regular sources, like ShopzSeries od ServiceLink do not provide such capability.

BTW: What's funny, one of the PTFs is orderable only through shopz. Other sources do not offer it.

Re: Missing fixes

2007-02-08 Thread Skip Robinson
Radoslaw asks a very good question: where to obtain a fix.

For a GA fix, I *always* use ShopzSeries. I haven't touched SRD for years.
Other mechanisms like SUF have bit the dust.

A non-GA fix can be one of two types: an APAR fixtest with an id like
AA12345 (or AK12345 for a PK APAR); or a pre-GA version of a PTF with a
standard id but not yet available on Shopz. For either type, I open a PMR
with the abstract 'Need fix for OA12345'. I include a brief explanation of
my need, which is usually either

- we have the problem described by OA12345 and need a fix ASAP
- we need to apply some other PTF that requires AA12345 in the chain

If a fix is available, I have very seldom been turned away. Level 2 places
the fix (APAR or PTF) somewhere on the 'testcase' server and provides
instructions for download. The instructions are almost always the same, so
keep a job handy that requires editing only with the testcase file name
and sometimes directory. If the fixtest solves your problem, IBM is happy
to get one more validation. If not, they need to hear that too.

One more note. We say 'AA12345', but if the first coded attempt did not
work, they will take another stab and call it 'BA12345'. And so on. I've
seen rare cases where the first letter might go up to 'G', although I've
been told that these aren't necessarily 'failed' attempts, but rather a
collection of APAR fixes for different releases. In such cases, the GA PTF
will SUP every fix variation ever provided to a customer during the APAR
process.

Both PTFs show a status OPEN. They must be still building them.

PTF List:
Release 310 : UK21373 not available yet
Release 310 : Relief is available in the form of: AK33471

That says you should be able to request the fix. It is probably not
automatically downloadable.

The entry for UK21449 gives no info whatsoever except that it is open.

Right, they may even be testing them along the way! In the olden days you
would get on the Interested Party page if not the originator and the SE or PSR
would come trotting down the cubicle to let us know it was fixed. Now we got
AST, but I don't know that it works anymore(or anyless). Stuff shows up
sometimes and sometimes it doesn't.
