Hi Group

I am looking for alternative solution for IBM VTL. So far i have found luminex,

Re: CF level z/OS 2.1

2015-06-08 Thread Christopher Mason
I would think since it runs on a z9 or higher I would say it would be the
CFCC level of a z9 processor. The link is below for processor CFCC levels.

If you are looking for a current modern technology device that supports
ESCON and FICON SecureAgent makes a 9074 IDG.

Does anyone know of any real 3270 devices that are available from IBM or a

I'm thinking that IBM stopped support for all 3270 devices (including
 controllers) somewhere in the '90s.

And I believe all the third party competitors have gotten out of this
 market.

Now, before we get into a history discussion, and all the TN3270 support

I'm working on a business case having to do with such devices.

Re: LOOKING FOR INFO

2015-04-24 Thread Christopher Mason
That means you can support up to 96 controllers does not necessarily mean
you have that many. There are a few ways you can figure out how many
controllers you have.

1. Physically go to the F05 frames(cabinets) and look to see how many
controllers you have. Not sure what flavor you have C06(P5) or C07(P7).

2. Look at the tape devices in your IODF and view the device there will be
a LIBPORT-ID associated with the devices. Each LIB-Port is a controller.

3. In your IOCP each Control Unit defined for your tape drives in the
library will be a controller.

 G'DAY,

Is there a way of knowing how many logical controllers that are on a
TS3500? I logged in to it (TS30)) and viewed all the panels however I
couldn't find the info. I GOOGLED TS3500 and I found this excerpt:
The TS3500 Tape Library can support up to four 3953 tape systems, up to
eight IBMVirtualization EngineTS7740 subsystems per physical library, and
up to sixteen IBMSystem Storage Tape Controllers for System z per logical
 library.

We have 6 libraries. So if my math is correct there are 96 tape
controllers. Am I on the right track?
