No the actual statement used system MVSA. I incorrectly meant to imply any
valid LPAR name.

I have the same problem if I use your statement (JOBPARM i.s.o JOPARM)

/*JOBPARM  SYSAFF=MVS*

HASP112 value of SYSAFF= parameter is not valid

Did you by any chance mean to use /*JOBPARM SYSAFF=*?

I posted a question about SYSAFF not working and received several resonses
(thanks). Thanks especially to Bill Planer for his suggestions.

Several people asked for specifics about the failure. This ocurrs when using
/*JOPARM  SYSAFF=MVS*

The message is out of module HASCSRIP and reads "-- INVALID /*JOBPARM - VALUE
OF SYSAFF= PARAMETER IS NOT VALID".

This only happens after maintenance and reapplying the JES2 mods.

I am currently going through the entire process again to rebuild the system and
see if I still have the failure.

Thanks again,

It will help to know specifically what the issue is.

/*ROUTE XEQ
/*JOBPARM S=

If so, what are the issues, or error messages you get?

Or is it something else?

This might be something that IBM Support could be more helpful with - as you
might need assistance in coded JES2 Exits.

Depending on the level of OS for MVS you are running, a lot of the functions in
the older JES2 Mods is now incorporated into JES2. If you could provide
specific information the List can be very helpful.

After a little searching on the WEB is JTIP this function:
the JES2/TSO Interface Package which was used by Mutual Life of Canada, General
Electric and even the IBM Development Labs. This has now been replaced by SDSF.

When you say "SYSAFF doesn't work," exactly what is it that happens? Is
SYSAFF ignored? Are there error messages issued? Can you post the JOB
and JECL statements and the messages you get?

In keeping with my latest "fad", I wonder if using System REXX would be a
decent way to write a JES2 exit. I use one (asynchronous) as an MPF exit to
do some automation. And I know that there is one around for RACF for
password validation. But neither of these is performance sensitive (the MPF
because of it being _asynchronous_).

You may have reached a point where J/TIP may need to be changed to a JES2 exit.

Or... If you have any of the following products, could ease the transition

Trident Software z/OSEM

MVS Solutions   Thruput Manager

DTS SoftwareEasy/Exit

There may be others as well.

Or the other process is to write a new JES2 Exit(s) to provide the same
function.

Wow! I last played with JTIP in 1979 or 1980. My mind boggles at the
thought that it would still work on a current JES2, given the coding
changes in both style and detail over the last 35+ years. IIRC there
were large inline updates to JES2 mainline code, and fitting them back
then to a system that already had signficant mods was a lot of work.
Has that all been moved to exits, or are you still fitting and
refitting...?

JES2 Mods

2016-11-07 Thread Larry Martin
Our system has a lot of JES2 local modifications and among them is an old
package named J/TIP (from Univ. of Illinois Chicago). When applying our last
maintenance the SYSAFF= function on the JOBPARM card stopped working. I think
that the J?TIP mods are involved.

Has anyone seen anything similar? Is anyone else still using J/TIP.

Thanks
