After "Z" comes "AA". At least in most spreadsheet programs. And by that time, I'll need to be in "AA"! My problem is that after 'Z' then what? Had they started with 'A' the whole alphabet lies ahead. I think 'Z' came from a German accent. Zee man is walking.. Aug 25 Webcast -Linux on System z SLES11 SP1 Performance Report
The next webcast is scheduled for Wed. Aug 25 with a choice of two times (9am EDT (NY) and 2PM EDT) Topic: Linux on System z SLES11 SP1 Performance Report Speaker: Christian Ehrhardt, IBM Boeblingen Abstract: This technical webcast covers the overall status of SLES11-SP1 from a performance point of view with a slight focus on System z. Comparisons are made with SLES11 and SLES10-SP3 leading to a general summary and recommendations. We'll start out with a brief overview then deep dive into the analysis of different workload patterns. We'll provide background about major improvements and known scenarios to keep an eye on including some detection and workaround hints and tips. Yes, typo: > Infrastructure size where the product > is deployed: #IFL, # of zVM partitions, # of zLinux servers if any. Some company may have zVM without zLinux. Since I am looking for IBM Operations Manager for zVM for a customer that will automate zLinux as well then I need to know if the reference has zLinux as well. Good catch, thanks. Looking for some good stories...
The Linux and VM Program at SHARE is looking for some good stories. In particular, we are looking for people who can talk about their experiences implementing and running large, critical applications on Linux on System z, either with or without z/VM. At the recent conference in Boston, LVM sponsored a day dedicated to discussing experiences using Oracle under Linux on System z and it was very well received. So, at the next conference (Anaheim CA 2/27-3/4/11), we would like to continue that topic, plus have presentations on other large applications such as SAP, WAS and Cognos. Other suggestions are also welcome. So, if you have a story to tell, we bet that there are others who would like to hear it. Speaking at SHARE is a rewarding experience, not intimidating at all. The members of the LVM Program team will help you through it. We are currently starting our scheduling process for the Anaheim conference. The "call for presentations" is open at http://www.share.org. Please submit your proposal via the web site. If you want to discuss it with someone before creating a proposal, please contact me off-list and I'll be happy to help. Martha McConaghy LVM Program Manager
