It's not too late to join the SHARE LVM Program group for dinner, so if
you have been thinking about it but thought it might be too late, now is
your chance to go for it!

SHARE Orlando - LVM Program Dinner Invitation

Greetings from the SHARE LVM Program group!

We would like to invite anyone who may be interested in meeting with us
and learning more about the Linux and VM Program at SHARE to join us for
dinner during the next SHARE conference, which is being held in Orlando,
Florida. The dinner is scheduled for Wednesday evening, August 10, from
6pm to 9pm at the Kimonos Restaurant, which is located in the Disney Swan
Resort Hotel (right next to the Dolphin resort where the SHARE conference
is being held). For your convenience, please note that Kimonos will accept
individual checks so long as you let them know beforehand. You can learn
more about Kimonos (menu, pricing, etc) at the following URL:

http://www.swandolphinrestaurants.com/kimonos

If you are interested in joining us for dinner and finding out how much
fun our group is, then please forward this email to the LVM Dinner
coordinator at the following address (if more than one person is being
requested, please indicate how many):

james.mol...@fms.treas.gov

We have a limited number of seats and will accept requests on a first
come, first served basis, so get your request in soon!

Looking forward to seeing you at Kimonos,

Jim Moling

Thanks for all of the help. I used the RC and then looped thru the
stacked data to get the message I needed.

Another clue from HELP WAKEUP:

Seven WAKEUP options cause data to be stacked: EXT, FILE, IO, IUCVMSG,
SMSG,
TIME, and VMCF. WAKEUP stacks the data in the following order regardless
of
the order the options are specified when you invoke
WAKEUP:

  1. Current date and
time

  2. Line from the WAKEUP TIMES file, or an asterisk (*) if no line is
found

  3. An IUCV, SMSG or VMCF message, or EXT or IO interrupt
data.

Note: In general, the last line stacked by WAKEUP is the one you really
want
   to use, not the first
line.

Not sure it's quite that simple - I too have had issues using FILE and
IUCVMSG within VMUTIL. Been awhile but I think the cause stems from this
(HELP WAKEUP):

When FILE is specified, WAKEUP will always stack the line from the file
(or a null line if no line was found) before exiting, even if the cause of
the WAKEUP was not timer expiration. The stacked line has the following
format:

 * recno record-from-file

where recno is the record number of the line in the file, and
record-from-file is as much of the record as will fit on the stack.

As I recall - I would have these entries in the stack, which then had to
be tossed as they weren't 'real' timer entries.

There are some code examples under HELP WAKEUP that might help ...

I am fairly new to VM and having some problems with WAKEUP.

I have a server that runs a WAKEUP EXEC that uses the FILE parameter. I
need to run an additional WAKEUP EXEC that uses the SMSG parameter.

My question is can I incorporate the 'WAKEUP (SMSG' in the same FOREVER
loop as the other WAKEUP EXEC? I am seeing errors that make me think this
will not work this way. Or do I have to create another server to run my
other WAKEUP EXEC (i.e. 1 server runs the WAKEUP (FILE and another server
runs the WAKEUP (SMSG) ?

Thanks in advance,

SHARE in Denver --- LVM Call for session chairs!!!

SHARE 113 in Denver is now less than three weeks away! Don't miss your
chance to chair these wonderful sessions. You still have a great list
of sessions to choose from, get your picks in fast before the last
minute rush! If you plan to attend a session anyway, why not volunteer
to chair one or more sessions? It's easy and you will be helping out
SHARE and the Linux and VM Program.

As a session chair you'll be the envy of your friends and colleagues.
You get to meet and introduce the speaker, make a really cool, but
short, speech, count session
attendees, keep general order and collect the always important
evaluation forms at the end of the session. Feel free to sign up for
any sessions you think you may plan to attend.

The remaining sessions are listed below. Please respond privately to me
with the session numbers that you wish to chair, first come, first
chaired!
