Bacula + tape size
Hello, I don't know if my previous reply went through so I'll post it: Our VTS is B20 , 3952 drives. We tested backup to disk and from disk to tape but problem is amount of tapes that autochanger have to use. That why we would like to configure bigger tapes. can we emulate 3490e cartridges only in z/VM ? I know that in z/OS we can define bigger tapes with use of Data Class parameter. But how to configure it in z/VM? The virtual volumes are emulated to the extent that includes simulating the capacity of a physical 3490E cartridge. Ah, right. VTS, duh. Suggestion: define a disk pool with large volumes (5-10G) and do migration from disk to tape. Much more efficient. If you have FCP disk available, this is a great use for lower cost FCP disk pools. -- Nudzisz sie? Zadzwon do znajomych! Tanie rozmowy telefoniczne! Sprawdz http://link.interia.pl/f1f2b

Our VTS is B20 , 3952 drives. We use Bacula from about 1,5 year and it works fine. We tested backup to disk and from disk to tape but still problem is amount of tapes that autochanger have to use. That why we would like to configure bigger tapes. In z/VM can we emulate 3490e cartridges only? I know that in z/OS we can define bigger tapes with use of Data Class par ameter. But how to configure it in z/VM? Best regards, Tomasz Westrych
Bacula + tape size
Hello, We use Bacula and VTS to make backups I wonder if we can configure in z/V M tape volumes greater than 830 MB. It look like that what I can define max 830 MB. Best Regards Tomasz

There's no limit in z/VM; the tape mount code we wrote writes until physical EOV; you may need to define a new media type in Bacula to represent the larger media.
