Don't have to go for full CSE, just need a single authoritive domain for the LPARs. That will let you share data via SFS, do cross-system messages with CMS Pipelines, and even look at ESAMON data from the other systems. If you can't afford the CTC's, current IPGATE version can at least do the SFS part. This can even do userid mapping if you need. Rob
Re: How to manage multiple LPARs without RSCS
You can also use the CMS multitasking IPC queues and create a rexx server. I used a sample of Brian Wade, and I guess it is still available on the VM website. You'd also need the TCP/IP drivers for x-system access to the IPC queues, IIRC this driver is on VM's download pages. 2010/6/24 Mark Wheeler > Rick, > > If you're moving files with SENDFILE, have you implemented UFTD? Rick, If you're moving files with SENDFILE, have you implemented UFTD? You can then issue SENDFILE MY FILE A TO user...@vm1.myco.com (UFTSYNC NETDATA I can't say this will help with VM:Operator, but it looks like JR pointed out a possible solution in another reply. If you have VM:Operator, version 3.0 added the RVS feature that supports this using TCPIP. How to manage multiple LPARs without RSCS
Does anyone have a method they use to manage multiple z/VM LPARs from a single point without the benefit of RSCS for NJE connections? We have always had RSCS and used PROP or VM:Operator with a single logical operator being able to interact with groups or all of the LPARs. There is some question whether will want to keep licensing RSCS. Rick
