Re: Updated VM Community Redbook outline posted

2006-08-15 Thread Jerry Whitteridge
David,
In the new Redbook it would be great to have a chapter on Operationl
Procedures. For many of us we have no idea of the things to lookout for
and deal with that we need to document and provide to Operations. Not
everything that we have doc for on the z/OS side applies to z/Vm and
equally there things on the z/VM side we don't know enough about to be
worried!

(I'm probably going to miss the BOF since the day changed but I'll try
to be there)

http://www.sinenomine.net/node/559 has been updated with some
 additional
information from Dan Martin, and some updates on preliminary
 signups for
particular chapters. The filename ending in -20060814 is the
 current one
(should be the only one visible on the above page).

Reminder to those of you at SHARE: the BOF has been moved to 6 pm
WEDNESDAY due to a scheduling conflict with Mike MacIsaac's session on
 delivering something similar.

 See you all on Wednesday.

Folks,

Ive collected the suggested edits/changes and will be
updating the draft outline this week with the suggestions and will post it for
review. Also, several people have requested to write certain chapters
if youre interested in volunteering to do such, please let me know and Ill
put you in as the tentative author for that chapter.

Ill be at the BOF, so we can plan it in more detail. Ill
also start working on the style sheet and layout. Would anyone object horribly
if it looked like a real IBM book? Itd be really easy if we used the standard
Bookie layout as a basis. (of course, I could generate multiple formats very
easily from SCRIPT..8-)).

Ill also look into setting up a separate mailing list
for this, so we dont annoy the other folks with the chatter. I
also have some thoughts on volume 2 and 3, but lets get volume 1 baked
first.
