This works so well for me. Mary, who works in the office at Action Tack,

Yes, it was typical of the Feldman videos we've seen posted before:
chair-seat riding, and at some points, the horse's nose is well above
the horizontal - "stargazing." And, as in most of his videos, the horse
doesn't seem happy with the bit/contact.

I am also going to add free choice Kelp again as an option. I do have

scrap the salt block with their incisors actually helps wear them down so we

Advanced Biological Concepts has an array of mineral powders that you leave
out "free choice" so the horses can take what they need as well as an
awesome loose salt & an herbal+ pro-bi mix called MOP that's an excellent
de-tox in case they get into something in their hay or pasture. They even
have an Icelandic Mineral & Vitamin powdered mix formulated especially for
the needs of the Icelandic horse, also free choice. I love the fact that
anyone can buy from ABC..no memberships/no multi level marketing/ no minimum
orders & they take phone or on-line orders. Robyn Hood recommended them to
me 14 years ago when we bought our first Icey .

I think the horses prefer to choose what they need based rather than top
dressed whether they need it or not. It's a lot more economical that way
too.

Niels West, the breeder of our two mares was working on the same thing.
Although I thought it was encouraging that a man in his 90's would want to

the point. Our Tosca, 3/4 Icelandic, 1/4 Peruvian Paso, is the result of

And to answer the question, he's a German Icelandic horse breeder, trainer and

Hi Nancy - Wanda

I have seen horses break ice in troughs and drinking holes. We have an
automatic waterer that has a ball - it sometimes gets slightly frozen and
the horses knock it with their foot. Some of them take their foot and hold
the ball down and to the side so they don't have to push it with their
noses. I still break ice when I see it and take it out of the bucket or
trough if there is no heater.

i was talking about Jaspar not your horse :) some horses can be very
dominant and mean to others. My Teev is sorta that way but I have
three of these "bosses" here and they are kept separately with their
own little kingdom and they are fine. Then when I give turnout they
are real seriously mean to each other, theres plenty of room then.
But the most vicious animal on my place is my 11 year old intact
donkey. And my Fox, gelded at age 8 just adores him, protects him,
follows him like a puppy.

I'm glad to hear she made it to the hospital. She is most definitely in my
prayers and you are too!

[IceHorses] Easy Ride Stirrups with cage

2008-01-20 Thread Wanda Lauscher
Hi All, I'm going to need a set of easy ride stirrups (with the cage).

I have a place that I can order them online, but I thought I'd check
here first to see if anyone had a set they wanted to sell.

Someday, we'll be riding again...

The vet called last night. He said, "She's one tough little dog." But he
didn't hold out a lot of promise. The emergency vet will have to transfer
her care to her primary vet, and she will have to go back and forth to town
daily to have the wound packed for 10 - 14 days, if she doesn't develop
sepsis, which would kill her. He said that if it was a cat, then their
mouths contain "stuff" that makes infection more likely and the wound was
full of grass and dirt and debris.

So she's alive, but we now need to weigh our desire to keep her alive
against what is humane. It's only 5:00 a, here, so we'll wait a couple of
hours to check on her.

How are things this morning Nancy?

A friend I have coffee with at work has a daughter living in Oregon.
About a month ago, the daughter's Yorkie was attacked by coyotes and
the neighbour intervened and somehow rescued the poor little thing.

Elaine sent me pics, and I would never have guessed the poor little
guy would live, but he did. Tubes everywhere... But those eyes of his
were very bright and very determined looking.

Dogs are amazing...
