Way to go Mom! Her photo is on my bulletin board of role models, right
over my computer. I can't believe where you ride - wish it weren't so far.
Our horses, who climb mountains every day, have trouble with sustained work
on sandy flat ground. For them, it's hard work.

Susan, I am so impressed with your video. Whisper looks great in pink. You
seem to be doing great with him. What kind of horse is your mom riding?
Gaited?? What is the temp in Fallon? sorry about all the ?

Yes, she does look great in pink! She is now my partner on the trail (she has
always been my soul mate - we just butted heads for a while!)

What kind of horse is your mom riding? Gaited??

Mom is riding a Spotted Saddle Horse, and yes, he is gaited. Due to Mom's
riding style, he does a step pace most of the time, but with Mom's knees, she
tends towards a chair seat, and Fireman't step pace is pretty comfy for mom.
And I agree with Janice - there is nothing wrong with the step pace if you mix
it up with other gaits to keep the back in shape. Mom's back was bothering her
a bit and that is why she looks like she is leaning back sometimes. She is
making an appointment for an epidural pain shot.

What is the temp in Fallon?

It's been in the low 90's, so we started our ride at 8am. In another month, we
will be heading out for our rides at 6am and taking afternoon naps! Today was
the first day in a week you could see the mountains due to all the CA fires.

 sorry about all the ?

Don't be sorry!

I was thinking about that when Whisper had a hard time with the hard pak and
rocks last weekend, yet fairly flew thru the really deep part of the sandy wash
we go thru.

Hi Susan,
I wish my mum even like horses. The closets my mum got to our horses was 100
ft, but my dad would come up to the gate
and pat the horse on the neck for a few minutes. My parents would have died if
they ever got on a horse.
Susan you are so very luckly for your mum to love horses and to even get on one
and even better yet to go for a ride with you :-)
I have always LOVED horses from a little kid to now
My mom got me about 30 or 40 Breyer horses when I was a kid. When I grew up my
mum told me she threw them away yrs ago
My mum passed away last aug and my brother wanted to know if I wanted them or
he would have throw them out.

Ten yrs when we purchase 10ac and got some horses, my mum always told me that I
would grow out of this horsey thing,
after collecting 9horses I alway told my mum that I will have horses till I am
100yrs if I live that longs.
My mum always told sell the horses and lets go shopping, that was her thing, it
is sad that my mum spend all of there savings on shopping
My poor dad is in a nursing home and living off my brother and ss.

My daughter and grandaughter took after me loving horses. When get way to old
to ride at least I wht them in my back yard to watch and pat them each day.

Enjoy your mom every minute you got her. In aug it will be a year and miss her
dearly. Its funny when we were kid thinking our parents are perfect and then
when they pass away find out that they are no perfect at all.

Have fun riding together.
Anne

Mom grew up in upstate NY and used to go fox hunting with the rich people. She
even went fox hunting in the sugar cane fields of Cuba before Castro took over.
She never owned her own horse until she moved next door to me in NV and bought
her first horse at age 69. If there is one thing to get out of that it's NEVER
GIVE UP YOUR DREAM.

There are days when I'm reminded how old my mother is, but most days she just
seems ageless! I am lucky to have her next door to me and interested in the
same things!

Heck, yea! I really want to get up in your hills, especially since I will be
taking Whisper to her first endurance ride of the season there at Washoe Lake
on August 23!
