we still have a good chance of rain the next 2-3 days. I think the winter
rye we planted last month all died - it germinated, but then no more rain
for a while, but maybe this will make it. No pictures of the rain because
it's dark now. I should have gotten a picture of Frank, all wet after going
out for a potty break. Poor Frank - he's been rained on very few times in
his short life, but it didn't stop him from his appointed job!

TONS thank goodness! and not much wind, just blustery gusts but the
eye has passed now so the wind has changed from northeast to southwest
and the wind has picked up but still not bad. I sat on the porch a
long time and watched the dark bands roll in. The horses had freedom
to go anywhere and none of them opted for shelter, not even curly ray.
I think they are enjoyed the break from heat and bugs :) There have
been some tornadoes, small ones, but none here. It is passing this
evening and funny thing is going to make landfall fifty miles away
where I work. My boss said it would! and we laughed at her...

Sorry Laree and Sue. We got enough to hold us for a week or so, so please

we may be past the worst of the heat wave, with an increased chance of

get this--- our weather report this morning said it is actually
raining a scant rain but the air is so dry it isnt reaching the
ground. and we are sitting here desperate. But it says the locked
in HIGH that has been parked over us so long preventing rain is moving
further north and east so bad for NC and SC and NE GA but better
chances for us, also a low in the Gulf maybe by the weekend could
bring rain. I told my husband (he is home today) that he needs to
make sure the horses are turned out if it rains, cause it has been so
long I know they will go nuts with happiness and running around like
crazy knocking into things.

people who love cats around a barn always say no, but hey, I am here
to tell ya, cats carry ringworm! Children get ringworm from cats and
a horse rolling in sand where a cat has been can get it like that.
But a vet said once that even flies can carry ringworm. I still think
cats are a major offender. I have barn cats but they dont go into
my horse areas! I dont know why! They will lay on top of the hay but
they dont go inside the horse paddocks to relieve themselve. Its
plenty sandy in there so you'd think they would but thank goodness
they dont. Maybe cause I keep their food a long way away from the
horse area?
