I'm just getting back from a few days out of town, so sorry for the delay in response... I have a total of 5 seamstresses now (just hired on the 5th this past week). We are definitely going through growing pains right now and there are a WHOLE lot of decisions to make on a daily basis. But I'm so excited about where we are going. I'm trying to predict where it's headed and make decisions based upon that. But it's really going a whole lot better than I thought! Thanks for kind words and support Debbie. RE: [IceHorses] Re: Was saddle on ebay - now Kerrits
I would wear stretchy jeans but seems after a long ride I get rubbed in the inseam where its sewn down the legs. Janice- I will wear stretch jeans in the summer or fall if I'm only going to ride for maybe an hour or so...and if all my riding tights are dirty! They are WAY too hot to ride in during the summer though. I can't stand to ride for very long when it's REALLY hot, like today. When it's this hot, I sometimes ride in shorts or in the cheap Walmart stretch pants that are made out of t-shirt type material - I think they are about $12. They don't have any knee patches of course, but I use the sheepskin seat belt covers over my stirrup leathers, so it doesn't really matter for shorter rides. Seriously, the real sheepskin saddle covers and stirrup covers are wonderful for riding in the summer, when it's really sticky. Karen Thomas, NC

Karen Note - it SUGGESTS for undergarments and SHIRTINGS. Yes, it's lightweight, but the version I use is no where near lingerie weight. Polartec makes a slew of different PowerDry fabrics. Each one is a little different. I actually ordered swatches and samples of the different types of PowerDry to figure out if any would work for riding tights. Most wouldn't have worked due to them being too thin. But one of them turned out to be just perfect for summer weight riding tights. I've done A LOT of demo testing fabrics for riding gear over the years. This stuff really is the best performing and yet most practical thickness for summer weight riding tights. Everyone feels a little different about fabrics and what's comfortable for them. Some people want thicker materials because they like the feeling of being held in. But most of the folks who've ordered these, whether they like the held in feeling or not have been very happy with how they fit and feel on. Dawn Bruin-Slot, northern Michigan Fuzzy Logic Equine
RE: [IceHorses] Re: Was saddle on ebay - now Kerrits
Holy cow - I couldn't IMAGINE the ones I had being a winter weight or fall weight material. Most riding breeches are neither summer weight nor winter weight, and that's where I think the Kerrit microcords would be categorized. I believe Kerrit's sells polar fleece breeches for winter, as well as the lighter weight ones for summer...? I haven't looked, since I'm pretty well stocked for winter breeches. You've not tried my summer weight PowerDry material pants ;-). THOSE are breathable. Definitely NOT what I would consider to be winter weight material. They were advertised as lightweight, which to me indicated that they were summer weight. I have several pairs of the lightweight ones and I LOVE the regular Kerrits tights - they are about as breathable as any type I've found in our intense summer humidity. You've not tried my summer weight PowerDry material pants ;-). THOSE are breathable. I'm so incredibly picky about materials. The stretch in the Kerrits pants was great, but I surely didn't feel that they had enough breathability AND wicking properties to keep me cool and dry in summer heat and humidity. But I truly can't tolerate heat and humidity. I get red, raw and itchy heat rash in hot and humid temps. I HAVE to have fabric that is exceptionally breathable and wicking performing fabric, not just stretchy. Anything less makes me horribly miserable for days afterwards. I haven't had a problem with the waistband rolling. I'm short, and the regular length is too long for me, but I just fold them up. They also come in talls. Karen -You lucky lady. I'm not sure if I was just one of those exceptions to the rule? The waistband rolled over on me and also twisted. I think it would be easier for me to find pants that were too long. I could just re-hem them. But when they're too short, you just can't do anything about it. I ordered the Kerrits boot-cut riding tights in longs, but they were still too short for me. The full seats are definitely the warmest of the styles I make. So hearing that you are happy with them in hot weather is great. The knee patch and no patch ones are AWESOME for super hot and muggy weather. To be fair, the material I use isn't meant to hold you in, nor is it thick. It is, however, more flattering than some other equally thin material due to it being a micro-corded. It will hide a few more unsightly lumps and bumps. I've found that it doesn't move with the rider. I use a lighter weight stretch suede. It's not as thick as clarino, but it has a whole lot more ability to allow you to move freely.
