[IceHorses] Re: sensation hybrid ? for Karen

2007-11-25 Thread Kaaren Jordan
Karen:

yours has the standard dressage flap FOR A HYBRID. The only flaps you can
order for the Hybrid are Hybrid Dressage Flap
or Hybrid/English Trail Flap.

I stand corrected made a BIG typo on the Western info (never should
multi task while doing e-mails)base length IS the same as all the other
models.. it's the flexible skirt that extends it 4. The flexible skirt is
very soft, so it's only visually a longer look. Mu guys did not mind it at
all, I just prefer the English Trail for my body comfort.

Your hot off the presses Dressage Model may well be a bit shorter than
what I have seen out here/ what Dana herself measured if it is you're very
lucky to have it because Icey's as we all know can have a shorter back
length to deal with . That particular saddle could really come in handy with
all the different backs you have at your place. If you ever want to sell
it, I have several smaller clients on the wait list for a shorter Sensation
for their very short backed horses their smaller size. I sold both of
mine that were demos because I need the XL seat versatility for my larger
demo humans. If smaller people try them, I just include the bolsters!!

Laree has one from the same vintage...care to weigh in on your base length
Laree?? It would be interesting just to compare!

Kaaren -

I have nothing here to compare mine to - it fits me well (and I'm not
small) and fits both the horses here well, so I never compared it to
any others - I just enjoy it :-))

Just to clarify, the XL (extra long seat ) seat does not change the base
length of the Hybrid or any other Sensation saddle. The cantle is just
moved back 1 on the base the dressage cantle is not as wrap around or
deep as the standard Hybrid cantle so it is more roomy/less confining than
the standard Hybrid cantle for the rider. Nothing changes for the horse.

Karen has 2 Hybrids with the dressage flap XL seat with dressage cantle.
Janice MacDonald has a Hybrid with dressage flap
st andard Hybrid cantle. I think I am the only dealer that has demo
models in the Hybrid with English Trail flap/XL seat dressage cantle
Hybrid's with dressage flap/ XL seat with dressage cantle. They are my best
sellers of all the models so far.

The first few off the presses dressage Sensations were about 3/4 - 1
shorter in the base for the horse than the then standard English Trails.
Dressage models do ride a bit smaller for the rider as well because of the
deeper pommel deeper cantle in that model. The slightly shorter base
length occured in just these first few models. Since then all the
exchangeable parts for the Sensation are die cut at the manufacturers so
base lengths/all parts are about the same. All that being said, humans are
making them leather handles/stretchs differently from hide to hide so
there are still some very slight variations from saddle to saddle . The
Western Sensation is the only model out right now that has a longer base
length for the horse of about 4.

I'll try to get the measurements tomorrow, but my dressage model is more
than 1 shorter than my Hybrids.

The Western Sensation is the only model out right now that has a longer
base length for the horse of about 4.

From the pictures, I'm not sure I'd consider the Western Sensation to have a
base of 4 longer than the other Sensation models. The extra length on
the western model appears more like a skirt on a treed western saddle than
what I'd consider a base on an English type saddle, which may or may not
be relevant to how the saddle fits the horse. A skirt is mostly for looks,
and if it's soft, it doesn't really matter too much how long it is. This
sounds picky maybe, but I've wondered if a western Sensation might actually
work better on Melnir, because it doesn't have the wide flaps down the
side, even though the base/skirt of the saddle is longer. I just can't be
sure what dimension makes the Hybrid walk back a little on him.

But... I don't need another saddle - the dressage works fine. :)

I just noticed this, Kaaren. The only thing different about my Hybrids from
the standard models is that they have the dressage cantles with the extended
seats. They don't have the same flaps as my dressage saddle.
