[IceHorses] Where Do We Go From Here?

I think we're at a really good place right now.

I think everyone has had a chance to express their opinion, and we can work 
on this together.

We all seem to have the same goal for the most part, we all want to see the 
horse benefit from good handling, training, and riding.

There are a few items we can iron out to make things better, such as being 
kinder to one another, not dwelling on them vs. us, to think about what 
we're saying and how it may seem to others, focus on the goal, respecting 
the list guidelines, and not arguing between ourselves.

I think we can work as a cohesive group For the Good of the Icelandic Horse.

Perhaps we can have someone volunteer to post a thoughtful quote each day, and 
someone else to post a positive affirmation.

Any other ideas?

Personally, I'd like to see more pictures and videos of people working with
their young fat ponies, in a non-rushed, easy-going manner.  I think
that's something a lot of us enjoy and we can all learn from each other.
Icelandic's can be wonderful horses for people who'd like to start their
first horse under saddle, and I love the idea of this list being place for
us to offer each other support in this endeavor.  I'm going to keep sending
mine in I don't really care if I did get flamed for them. I'm PROUD of
my horse whose training hasn't been rushed.  We get there, just in our own
sweet time.  I know other people have sent pictures and videos too, and
that's great.  I'd like to see still more videos and pictures from others.


And, I really appreciate Mic sending the pictures of Skessa, and being bold
enough to point out her winging.  We all learn from seeing bad examples of
conformation...and I don't think a single person flamed Mic or Skessa.  It's
just what it is, and even good horses aren't perfect.  And if Skessa has
helped Mic with some fear issues, then she deserves our respect for what she
IS, not to be ridiculed for what she isn't.  Wanda sent the picture of the
visitor mare's flared hoofs, and Nancy has sent a couple of her horses
showing them slightly behind the vertical.  We ALL make mistakes, or have
horses with some physical issues, and we ALL have had bad moments in time.
I admire the people with enough confidence to point theirs out.  We can
analyze and learn, without being mean-spirited.  We NEED to see mistakes,
and they need to be pointed out clearly, in order to fully learn.


When I get home, I'll try to get some pictures of Loftur's toeing out.  It's
a pretty common problem in Icelandic's, and we need to learn to recognize
it.  Loftur is a gelding, and an awfully sweet horse, so his imperfection
isn't any threat to the future of the breed.
