Now, with those, you don't need much of a zoom in your camera!

Hey, thanks for the photos-looks like you live in a good area for wildlife
viewing! If you want to post the hatching Killdeer chicks-so adorable!, you
can register on-nature.net, follow the wildlife and birding links until you
reach the bird forum, register, then you can post your photo.

If you want to post more than one photo at a time, upload your photos to
someplace like photobucket, then copy/paste the links to the posts.

You're right, Cheryl. Great-horned owls can and do eat skunks (cats, small
dogs, porcupines (often to their detriment)). Barn owls usually prefer to
stick to small rodents.

Wow..thanks! That's an adult West Taiga Great Horned Owl...here we only have
the dark eastern versions. I used to see completely white versions when I
taught in Hermosillo, MX back in 2001. Those things are strong; one even
carried off our beloved Gray Chinese Goose.

Beautiful photo! Although our yard is fenced, I'm always right by my
papillon's side at night. And our previously in/out cat in CA will now
only peek her nose out the door and will not go outside anymore.

Cool picture! The owls are the biggest reason why I bring all the
cats in at night -- I actually had a barn owl try to fly through the
family room window last month trying to get my little black cat that
was lounging on my ankles watching TV with me (it wouldn't see me
because a lighted lamp was in the way, but the cat provided a nice
contrast on my pink throw). Owl and window were OK -- I saw the owl
fly off, but the thump was impressive.

Superb photo!

I don't know much about birds. I hear owls around here, but they are
somewhere up in the trees and I can't see them.
