Maybe he's an Akal-Teke--he looks lean, like one of those.

That's what I was thinking, a perlino Akal-Teke!

I have seen an akhel teke in person twice, two different ones, and
altho there may be shade variations horse to horse that I am unaware of,
this is not the akhel Teke color I saw.

Akhal Tekes don't have to be any particular color, although that metallic
coppery color is the one people usually think of. There's one in our area
who is just plain old bay. The breed standard says the metallic glow is
desirable...meaning it's not required.

My friend lost her old QH stallion last year. He had the metallic look to
his sorrel coloring - very striking. But, he was a registered QH, not an
exotic breed.

Back to bed now...Cary graciously shared the stomach virus he had earlier
this week with me.

Oh, Bummer! Feel better soon.

By the way, did you get to the farrier clinic? I really wanted to go but my
oldest daughter had sinus surgery last week and I was tied down taking care
of her. I hate I missed it - hopefully next year.

Akal Tekes come in many different colors, including perlino, palomino,
and cremello, as well as the usual grey, bay, chestnut, black, etc.

Who knows? :)

when I saw an akhel teke it was at a horse expo for breed demo and my
exact thought when i laid eyes on it my gosh someone has brought a
broke down scrawney rescue horse up here and somehow polished it up.
It looked about like my Gallant Boy. All bones and a scrawney neck.

Akal-tekes come in a variety of colors including perlino, palamino,
buckskin, bay, and the really popular golden chestnut color (I don't know if
they call it anything different). Thet all glow but some colors look
better than others. The glow has to do with the structure of their hair.

I had a throwback Akhal Teke growing up. I called her La Bruja (the witch)
because she was so ugly, but even though she was only about 13.2 hh she
could cruise at 30 mph and had a gold metalic sheen. I won every race with
that mare and never did let her run as fast as she wanted
