interesting! stjarni has been barefoot for seven weeks now (and it's
mostly sucked, and i hate my farrier, and i'm seriously hoping he can
get trimmed and re-shod in front asap) and i've noticed that his right
forefoot winging has just about disappeared. (the ONLY good thing to
come of the barefootedness, aside from his not throwing shoes or
cracking under nails, anyway...)

thats interesting... i am gonna look for that next time I see a walker
winging around here. because a common thing around here to cure pace
is to have a farrier do long toes. A farrier gave my jaspar long toes
once without telling me. He asked how was jaspars gait and I just
shrugged and said oh well, pacey as heck and without asking or telling
me he assumed i meant I wanted his toes long. about three weeks later
we were dogwalking down a plain flat sandy trail and the last thing I
saw before I hit the ground was jaspars face hit the ground and I
flipped over his shoulder and broke three ribs. I was two hours from
anywhere and it was a long ride back. When my regular farrier
came he was shocked by it. He said jaspar had to be in pain walking
on toes that long.
