RE: [IceHorses] Re: Was saddle on ebay - now Kerrits
I would wear stretchy jeans but seems after a long ride I get rubbed in the inseam where its sewn down the legs. Janice- I will wear stretch jeans in the summer or fall if I'm only going to ride for maybe an hour or so...and if all my riding tights are dirty! They are WAY too hot to ride in during the summer though. I can't stand to ride for very long when it's REALLY hot, like today. When it's this hot, I sometimes ride in shorts or in the cheap Walmart stretch pants that are made out of t-shirt type material - I think they are about $12. They don't have any knee patches of course, but I use the sheepskin seat belt covers over my stirrup leathers, so it doesn't really matter for shorter rides. Seriously, the real sheepskin saddle covers and stirrup covers are wonderful for riding in the summer, when it's really sticky. Karen Thomas, NC

Dawn, I know you have been working on these tights for yourself for years, then others started to ask you for them, and a business was born... I find it really exciting for you... before you know it you will need 10 seamstresses and we will see you on OPRAH I find it really exciting... Holy cow - I couldn't IMAGINE the ones I had being a "winter weight" or "fall weight" material. Most riding breeches are neither summer weight nor winter weight, and that's where I think the Kerrit microcords would be categorized. I believe Kerrit's sells polar fleece breeches for winter, as well as the lighter weight ones for summer...? I haven't looked, since I'm pretty well stocked for winter breeches. You've not tried my summer weight PowerDry material pants ;-). THOSE are breathable. I noticed that the Malden Mills online store only suggests the PowerDry material for "undergarments and for shirtings." See: http://www.maldenmillsstore.com/dept2.asp?dept=31&id=0709234371759512370075 I'm not prepared to subject the world to the sight of my lower half in lingerie weight fabric...Riding tights are sufficiently revealing for me! :) Karen Karen Thomas Wingate, NC No virus found in this outgoing message. THOSE are breathable. just wanted to add a testimonial -- i have a pair of those and they are the lightest riding tights i have, and mine are full-seat. i wear them on hot days when i'm teaching especially, as that involves a lot of running around and gets me even sweatier than actually riding. i also sometimes ride in dance tights, which come very light, but don't have any leg protection so i end up wearing half-chaps as well. --vicka
