i was on a dog list once. I left because the people on there were just vicious and up in arms because I let my dogs out to run around on my property and have barn cats. oh the humanity, the cruelty. I kept saying uhmn, but, dogs and cats did not originally come from living in apartments... they enjoy a little fresh air, and then i would read all this venom spewing forth about how dogs need to be with their humans, how cruel it is for them to be out exposed to the elements. Sheesh I gave up! I am a farm girl, and an animal rights activist in my own way, but lets be REAL people come ON. I have two turkeys attacking me everytime i go outside and I cant bring myself to even give them away much less kill them, and I cant even kill a field mouse but I wear my goodwill store mink coat so what does that make me??! Anna, Someone posted a link to your youtube video on the Fugly Horse Blog. I happened to notice and looked and was saddened by some of the comments. It was totally random and many people were very upset by what was being said about clicker training. Personally I would ignore it. Delete or disable the comments. They are trashing clicker training just to make noise and it isn't personal. Sorry it had to happen to you but I would clean up the mess, take a deep breath and keep on keeping on! Sarah in MT

I think we all have to remember that posting on the internet gives some people a license to be idiots and a lot of it has to do with the anonymity. They say things mean just because they can and they say things that they would probably never say to your face. Also, to post, you don't have to have any kind of credentials or experience - just flying fingers and a closed mind. One nice thing about our list is that a lot of us know each other and there is a good chance that one day you will come face to face with the person you are responding to - I think that makes us a little more civil some times. When I went to view them I was suprised to see that >>> my views went from a few hundred to over a thousand and there were several >>> nasty comments about me and my video even going so far as calling me an >>> idiot and wishing I was trampled by my horse. Anna, the first time I ever got such a nasty reply to a post on one of these lists (pre-You-Tube) I wanted to cry - in fact, I think I did. I couldn't believe how mean and uncalled for it was. Not that anyone would want to emulate big-mouthed-moi, but after thinking about it, I decided to keep posting, knowing that if there are such mean-spirited people "out there" that the meeker, more tender-hearted folks of the world need "our" posts, "our" videos, "our" pictures, etc. all the more! Now, I see such comments as almost a badge of honor. Don't get me wrong - it still hurts sometimes, and I never enjoy negative comments, but you're doing what you enjoy with your horses, you have happy, healthy horses and you're doing a great job with them. If some sicko has a problem with that, then boy, do they have issues! The nastiest comments I've gotten recently was when Judy had the guts (and the thick skin) to post the blurb about the nasty stuff at the World Championships on the Eidfaxi site. I posted a supporting post - don't even remember exactly what I said now. But, someone, I can imagine whom, wrote the really, really nasty comment about me and my "slaughterhouse stock" and posted a link to a little YouTube video of me riding Melnir at a foxtrot. I was initially stunned to see them call my horses "slaughterhouse stock", but the poster then went on to describe Melnir as "fat." That saved it for me - I cracked up over that one. That video was taken right after Melnir's last breeding season. He's a small, fairly-refined Icelandic to begin with, and he was simply skinny when that particular video was made. (He always lost a little weight each breeding season, but he bred here and in KY this spring - ask Anneliese how skinny he got!) I couldn't be objective about that nasty person calling my horses "slaughterhouse" horses, but gosh-dang-it, a skinny horse is a skinny horse, and if they were so stupid as to call Melnir "fat" - why should I worry about ANYTHING they'd say?!?!? I don't know why some people are such sickos, but I know it hurts. I'm proud to have you on the list. Keep doing what you're doing. Hi Janice, >how do you feed kelp??! I never heard of that. Kelp is a great supplement that you add to feed. Kelp bought in bulk is quite inexpensive and I will try to find the name of the company I bought from - someone else may have a source. In the 60's when my sister Linda and her first husband, Went Tellington, had the Pacific Coast Research Farm, kelp was one of the things they tested as a supplement for horses. Went had the idea that Norwegian sea kelp would be a good supplement for horses and they found that to be true. In more recent years Kelpmate was brought out as a supplement. >>> The movie looks pixilated and poorer quality than the one I took with my digital camera (Orri & Friend). ... Does anyone know if there a program or something that will fix that? That's a good question. I've only uploaded videos from my digital camera, and when you save the video to the format YouTube asks for, you do lose a lot of resolution. It's interesting that you think the camcorder video looks poorer quality than the digital camera. I've just assumed that because it's a free service that they have to be quite efficient in the way they store our videos.
