Use webchat.freenode.net for freenode channels
Use mibbit.com for channels in other servers
Best way is to talk to the Lab administrators and college officials
about this and convince the importance.

Thanks

[fsug-tvm] filesystem got corrupted after filesystem check.........

Hi Srihari,

> I am the subject under consideration.I had crashed my jaunty

Though I realized the above earlier, I must say that it is
distressing to be in that situation! :D Let me wish you a speedy
recovery from this!

> @gokul as for now am not having any problem with the hardware

Well, I didn't say that it has caused h/w problems. I only said that
it may have caused problems. Even if it did, it may not show up
immediately. It may cause a shortening of disk life, which is not
immediately apparent. Sudden disk power downs are always very
traumatic.

Just in case you want to know the health of your Hard drive, you can
use SMART (Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology). In
Gnu/Linux, it is made available using smartmontools package. I can
give more details if you are interested.

I am interested. I think my laptop has started showing problems that may
be possibly traced to the hard disk. My X has irrecoverably crashed on a
couple of occasions, and I had to reboot. I normally don't shutdown,
only suspend the computer. And I normally have several documents and
several tabs in Iceweasel open at any moment. So a crash becomes rather
irritating. The error message says (from memory) that X is not properly
configured. I can't imagine what problem other than a hard disk error
can cause such an error.
