this discussion was initiated in the thread : http://groups.google.com/group/ilug-tvm/browse_thread/thread/be1d72545fd7b44e# which stated like addressing an institution which provides professional services in Linux is not really preferred, in forums. I think it should be debated for positive evolution of linux in our society. take this example: One among my thrust area is video production. I am not glad to say, that sometimes I am running partly on cracked proprietary software for the 'capture-edit-export' workflow. When i turn to FOSS, I am dealing(I, the non-geek) with problems that could be very defeating, like suddenly finding a bug, which would render my edit-list unable to be exported to a rendering system. Substituting video hardware are going to cost me in multiples of thousands, i am not easy with that. In this specific case, It is different from a Linux expert discussing a configuration issue, here it is a biologist looking for support. When i cant configure much, and i am in a time cum manpower shortage situation, my option would be to go for professional services in linux. Its better when I can go into an institution and avail from their past experiences in setting up different linux systems, than wait for somebody else in the forum to answer, or digg in internet to find myself with a configuration I cannot buy in this part of the world. I am happy that there are firms in Kerala, which installs Linux in the systems taken from them and deals with bugs where ever they can. Thats beyond what forums can do. I need such institutes to exist, and their services should be addressed. On Feb 17, 1:48 pm, nishandh M pro.n...@gmail.com wrote: Hai... [fsug-tvm] Re: Startup Manager in Karmic
glad to hear that i could be of help :-). regrading the i am not geek comment above, i would like to point out that i am not a geek either and that i was expressing an opinion based on my experience. the instructions are simple enough if u have the patience to read through it. i admit is a bit of lengthy manual. bipin On Feb 17, 11:20 pm, Anoop anoop@gmail.com wrote: Thanks Bipin, This is exactly what i am looking for.
