[fsug-tvm] Re: Malayalam Blender movie

2010-11-09 Thread OmV
Hi Guys,
Just landed on board. Nice to see so much initiatives happening on
this.
I can help on screen play and storyboard , Happy to brush with
blender :) but blending skills are so minimal 0.1 .

Suggestion
1. Stories from Indian epics said the same way as it is, seems like
watching Sholay with Hrithik Roshan [extra muscles added to veer]
nothing much other than that. {no hurt feelings on HR fans}.Let us
bring in something that captures essence of time+love+passion+emotion
+adventure = could be an episode.
The Sintel story is much of an episode , where Sintel meets its Dragon
after 20 long years but unable to identify and kills it where emotion
drags in.
Why don't we go ahead with a theme sending a message "What ever we are
searching for, is with in us"
rising from vulnerability , something similar to transformation of
Bruce wayne from his fear of bat to batman,a theme which makes rocky
balboa,a theme within peaceful warrior

2.Let us divide people into teams , fix a time line for storyboard and
stick with it, post it to community and then signoff with members.
Code freez the storyboard and once thaz done , why don't we move ahead
with Blending them. There are studios in Trivandrum where we can do
sound recording cheap and high cost . [experience in assisting with
band "Taalam" :) ]

3.Team meeting @ TVM can be done at open spaces most favorable with a
Laptop. We would just need to share ideas . [Kanakakunnu]

"IF I AM PITCHING ON THE RIGHT NOTE PLEASE PULL ME IN " else let me
know the wind is not hard enough for the wind chimes ;) . I would love
to watch and learn :)

Thanks,

Ok, so you can lead screenplay and storyboard part. If anyone else
wants to chip in this team, jump!

Looks great, lets take it to the next step. Expand and make it a story.

Ok, now that you are leading this part and you know pretty well about
story board and suggest a deadline.

Your experience would be really a great addition to the team.

Suggest a date for this meeting. Someone take minutes and those us
away from TVM can chip in later with comments.

Dear Guyz,

We had a meeting last evening with Dr.Kannan Moudgalya, Head CDEEP, IIT

by Ministry of HRD, Govt of India.Dr.Kannan explained us about taking
forward the Free and Open source software education by building self
learning spoken wysiwyg(what you see is what you get ) tutorials.

For making a 10 min spoken tutorial , Dr Kannan said, IIT Mumbai is ready to
support Rs2500/- in case of a original content version and Rs 1500/- for a
dubbed version.
He shared us the steps involved in making a spoken tutorial. He further
added that this assignment is open to all in building quality spoken
tutorial and IIT Mumbai  is ready to fund upto Rs5.00/year for the
college student who ensures the proportionate quantum of* quality delivery*.

The candidate can be any one like student from engineering/Science
college, job seekers, retired people, House wife who can passionately do this
job. The content can be any good tutorial on free and open source softwares,
and that the work can be started by shooting a mail to Dr.Kannan
Moudgalya(who can be reached at kan...@iitb.ac.in) with outline and detailed
script. Even a novice can be a participant for building this tutorial and
the technical write up will be supported by IIT-Mumbai, and he/she be
financially benefited proportionately for his/her contribution.

He also underlined that there are very limited tutorials in tamil, and
inspired us that we can add many more which will later dubbed to other
Indian languages. The original creator will be given credits of his/her work
even when the same been dubbed into other indian languages. He said NME
explore that the license for the work done by the creator will be released

Strange that you got that deb file from the data card because the
manual associated with it shows some Qt3 interface. Well I installed
the deb on ubu 10.04 . It installed without any dependency issues and
it looks like the windows one . But while clicking on connect it says
something about associating with a default profile .
Also most of the menu options inside the settings part were disabled

Yeah they are so hopeless . Even for ubuntu they mention clearly that
its only for 7 , 8 and 9.04 and later versions may not work .

And they are giving this in 2010 huh .. we have a 11 version of ubuntu
 coming soon !

Lets also not forget qt3 ! Qt 4 was released if I remember correctly
was released 5 years back , and teracom guys haven't catched up with

engineering and science with computing through the medium of Python
and thereby extrapolate on how powerful Scientific Computing is in
various fields and among different communities.

At this conference, novel applications and breakthroughs made in the
pursuit of science using Python are presented.  Attended by leading
figures from both academia and industry, it is an excellent

[fsug-tvm] Fwd: National Conference of Academicians and Researchers, Hyderabad (Dec 16-18, 2010)

Subject: National Conference of Academicians and Researchers,
Hyderabad (Dec 16-18, 2010)
To: "This List discusses GNU/Linux & GNU, GPL Software"

Dear Friends,

Free Software Movement of India (FSMI) is organizing the First
National Convention for Academics and Research (NCAR-2010) for
spreading awareness of Free/Libre  and    Open  Source  Software
(FOSS / FLOSS), provide  for a platform  for sharing of experiences
and views in   its use in   Academia/Research communities and to
foster a collaborative approach to education in developing and
improving educational aids including software tools. It is estimated
that more than 1000 Researchers, Academic personnel from various
national universities and organizations like IITs, IISc, IIIT's and
other state level Engineering Colleges and Universities from all
states, Industry and Government bodies and public sector organisations
will participate. The conference aims to focus on the FOSS based
research and evangelisation  of  the  same. The FOSS paradigm gives us
an opportunity to emerge as  a   serious research community with
global co-operation. This would enable the bridging of the gap between
research-industry and societal demands. An integration for research
between academia and industry is not up to the mark as it is in the
case of developed nations. This conference shall also provide space
for Industry to place their requirements before the researchers to
facilitate the reach of the academia and institutions at large.

All are requested to give  this news wide coverage through exhibiting
in their sites, circulating to others and communicating to friends and
relatives.

Those academicians and researchers who are interested to participate
either as observers, presenting papers, offering demonstration or
tutorials on education tools are requested to register at the site
referred above. Students are also welcome to demonstrate or offer
tutorials for any education tools.
