below is the configuration of the laptop

3 GB RAM,
320 GB HDD,
512 MB Dedicated Graphics
ATI graphics

I dont wanna sound rude but ubuntu has some specific issues.. If you are 
looking for a cool easy Gnu/Linux distro, not much preferred for Ubuntu 
only,then go for Mandriva2010 or PClinuxOS.. both are way too better 
than ubuntu in every means..

icon could be displayed by that but my problem is that os is treating my lap as 
desktop,its not detecting the battery as a source.
