Re: [fsug-tvm] Making the Fedora Partition larger...
Hi syam, using Gpartd i successfully resize the /var parttion and rebooted as instructed, but the boot process never writes anything to the console. I don't see a cursor or a prompt. I can't do anything except ctrl-al-del to reboot, so I appear to be completely stuck.pls help regards, Aravind On Fri, Mar 4, 2011 at 6:37 AM, Syam Krishnan sya...@gmail.com wrote: On 03/03/2011 11:09 PM, Aravind JV wrote: Hi Everyone, Does anyone know how to make the /var partition bigger, I am currently using FC 14 . Can I resize the /var partition to 100gb(current capacity is 50gb and the hdd already having 50gb free space).I want to do it without losing data. If that extra 50GB is adjacent to existing /var partition, then you can probably use GParted to easily resize the partition. Make sure you unmount /var before you do this. Even more importantly, make sure you *backup* all your data. Messing with partitions is a risky affair. Syam -- Freedom is the only law. If you can, use Puppy Linux or any live CD to boot and check the harddisk partition configuration. Do: fdisk -l and post the output here. Also, please attach your original /etc/fstab file.
