No, I have totem-gstreamer. I think what Gokul Das said is correct. I
have totem 2.22.2 and it has a bug. 2.24.3 seems to work properly.

Hello! Thanks. But when I tried to install gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad, my
system tells me that it is the latest. I find that
gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad_0.10.10.3-1_i386.deb is already installed and
it is the newest one. And it still does not play youtube videos :-(

Oh, OK. Thanks for that. I still have 2.22.2. Shall wait till testing
gets 2.24.3.

2009-05-05 Thread Visakh

Sir,
It may be a Totem YouTube plugin bug that affected certain Totem
versions (2.22.?). I am not sure about this, but you can check it by
running totem from a command terminal, opening a youtube video and the
comparing the output the bug report in:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/totem/+bug/191760/

This bug seems to be fixed now, and Totem 2.24.3 plays Youtube well
for me. On the other hand, Debian testing is still carrying version
2.22.2

Hello sir! I I couldn't find a direct answer. But I did find this from
their site:

"With the YouTube plugin you can browse YouTube and watch videos from
it. You'll need gstreamer-plugins-bad 0.10.6 or a recent version of
xine-lib. Even if videos play correctly, seeking may not yet work for
them but work is ongoing to fix this."

I am running Debian (a mixture of stable and testing). My totem searches
youtube and shows results, but refuses to play the video. It says,
"Totem cannot play this type of media (YouTube) because you do not have
the appropriate plugins to handle it." Any idea what additional plugin
may be needed?
