Sir, It may be a Totem YouTube plugin bug that affected certain Totem versions (2.22.?). I am not sure about this, but you can check it by running totem from a command terminal, opening a youtube video and the comparing the output the bug report in: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/totem/+bug/191760/ This bug seems to be fixed now, and Totem 2.24.3 plays Youtube well for me.
