In that case, of course, there wouldn't be anything wrong in having Microsoft Office or Oracle. In that case, of course, there wouldn't be any need for campaigning for Free Software. Well, let people use whatever they want, what is the harm? By extension, why should we work for Open Access or Free Knowledge? Well, I don't think that way. My parents use tally for calculating tax and other stuffs, Is there any existing accounting OpenSource software like tally that get live updates through the net on tax issues and other fiscal policies as soon as implemented. If such one doesnt exist, could be a good project.. If you look at the available ones, you will see that they stopped development soon after the first few releases. There are personal accounting software like SQL Ledger that are probably quite mature, but nothing in the class of Tally. There is an Indian project called GNUKhata, which may not be as versatile as Tally, but you could, perhaps, take a look at it. See: http://gnukhata.gnulinux.in/ Best -- V. Tally is a perfect accounting software, no other can beat at this time. They have to provide support for Linux. Parameswaran D On Oct 25, 8:32 am, V.
