In my earlier attempts, it was able to open the sample files in Gantt
Chart mode. It barfed on View Network of the samples.

It worked today :)

Anyway, my main interest is in a browser based app. so that individuals
can update their tasks over the 'Net and the PM can monitor the
project's progress w/o inputs in the form of email, phone messages, SMS

What if the low cost host is snooping on my mails! Or he/she does not
have the resources (financial, technical etc) to keep the Russian
 mafia from sniffing my mails.

When it comes to reliability, security etc I would choose Google over
low cost service providers. Of all the internet businesses Google
knows well that arm twisting users to make a quick buck is bad
 strategy.

Agreed. Infact, one of the reasons why I turned to Google's hosted
account. No matter where I host, I would never get the advantage of
carrying my mails all over the world without the need for my own PC /
laptop to be around. Secondly, I won't have to pay for the storage of
my mails (which is currently at 3Gigs).

Of course, there is the risk of google hosted account going paid.
Don't see it happening yet. They need my user-behaviour data to
improve their ad system, no? ;)

[Ilugc] [xpost] Epson LX1050+ printing with very small fonts.

2008-06-25 Thread Arun Khan
OS: Ubuntu 8.04 LTS, Gnome desktop.

Over the phone, I walked a client, through the printer installation of
Epson LX1050+ printer. During installation, I asked him to chose the
recommended driver for the LX1050 that comes bundled with CUPS and to
print a test page. The test page printed fine.

Now he is complaining that it is printing very small fonts irrespective
of the application i.e. Firefox, OO Writer.

This is the first time I have installed a dot matrix printer (and that
too by proxy). Logically, things should print per font settings in the
application if the test page prints.

I would appreciate any pointers to what printer settings I should be
looking for to fix the problem.

Thanks in advance.

What about Job Opportunities for PHP in Enterprise Organizations?

PHP has a very hot market now-a-days.

How they use PHP?

Ofcourse, for web applications and haven't heard any company doing business
with it other than web applications.

Is PHP for only SME's?

I do agree SME's use it extensively, but larger companies have also start to
trust PHP.
As a employee of a CMMi level 4 company, i see quite a lot of bigger client's
projects being done in PHP.
so, i don't see any reason, why he shouldn't start of with php.

of someone being disqualified for it :)

 I
study in Chennai, but IIT doesn't come under the TN education board.

I inferred from the Who can apply link that the bottomline is that one
needs to be a student studying IN Tamil Nadu.
That seems to be the only prerequisite.
