[Ilugc] Hindi English Transliteration map

2010-01-10 Thread Eknath Venkataramani
Can anyone kindly tell me where I could find a transliteration map for Hindi
to english.
I found ITrans.
But couldn't use it as it doesn't have a transliteration map explicitly.

I use it to do some testing, and it is pretty stable. For casual
browsing, it fares very well on Fedora 11 as well as 12. For prolonged
browsing, Firefox is tops though. The latest beta from the
repositories is very stable. Try it out, you won't regret it.

 Isn't that by design ?

 By using a separate process per tab, Chrome is trading off speed and
 security with memory usage.

It is, and a long browsing session with many tabs and add-ons can
almost bring my desktop (albeit a ~5 years old one) to a halt. I use
Chrome mostly to test some web applications, or for a quick mail
check. Firefox is quite slick at this task.

[Ilugc] Tips of the day (Check CD script)

2010-01-10 Thread Vishnu Raj
Imagine, you did the checksum on the ISO and you burned the CD, still
you want to double check the integrity of the files on the CD . . . .

Here is a little script that will do the checksum on your CDs. You do
need the original checksum to compare with the outcome of this script.

Steps

1. Open terminal and type

$ vi checkcd
press i ( to put vi in insertmode )

2. Type the following code in vi editor

#!/bin/sh
#checkcd

device=$1

blocksize=`isoinfo -d -i $device | grep ^Logical block size is: |
cut -d   -f 5`
if test $blocksize = ; then
     echo catdevice FATAL ERROR: Blank blocksize 2
     exit
fi

blockcount=`isoinfo -d -i $device | grep ^Volume size is: | cut -d   -f 4`
if test $blockcount = ; then
     echo catdevice FATAL ERROR: Blank blockcount 2
     exit
fi

command=dd if=$device bs=$blocksize count=$blockcount conv=notrunc,noerror
echo $command 2
$command

3. Save the file with suitable name, here for example save it as chechcd.

4. Give the read and execute permission to that file

$ sudo chmod 755 checkcd

5. Execute the following command to check CD

$ sudo ./checkcd /dev/cdrom | md5sum

If you don't pass any argument, the script must atleast display the
usage of the script and exit cleanly. Also do check if 'isoinfo' is
available on the system where the script is to be executed, else,
inform the user about it.

  on a tangent, I wonder if chrome would allow one to log in to the same

 Usually, It doesn't. Unless you open an incognito window.

Tried 2 different GMail a/cs in the incognito mode and it signed me out from
both the account tabs giving the same message You've been signed out as

Re: [Ilugc] nightly test tools

2010-01-10 Thread sivakumar
 Before i start to write my own, would like to know if there are any
tools
 that can do this ? I will be happy to contribute to an existing project in
 case it cannot do all the above, but trying to solve such a problem.

 Suggestions ?

Checkout https://hudson.dev.java.net/

I have been using this for a while and its good. I use to use
CruiseControl previously. Hudson offers more features compared to CC. It
has a lot of plug-in's contributions and has a very active community.

When I evaluated Hudson I also had a look at continuum, it gave a good
competition. continuum as very intuitive and feature rich, but was not
mature enough when I evaluated it a year and a half back.

 By using a separate process per tab, Chrome is trading off speed and
 security with memory usage.

 How is that a tradeoff?? Isn't that supposed to be good having per process
 tabs? I've always been annoyed when one tab freezes and takes the whole
 browser down with it.. How is it a tradeoff of speed and security?

You get increased speed and security which is needed but you also get
increased memory usage which is not desired.

To put it crudely:
Speed, Security, Memory Usage. Pick any two.

What KG meant was that you could login into two accounts, one each in normal
and in incognito window. Not two in the incognito mode itself.

[Ilugc] Tokenizer in python

2010-01-10 Thread Balachandar
Hi guys,
   I want to parse a C source code file using python.I want to separate each
and every string in the c file to process in python.

For example,
  #includestdio.h
  int main()
  {
 int i=0;
 for(i=0;i10;i++)
 {
   printf(i = %d,i);
 }
 return(0);
  }

Then i want to tokenize this file like this.

#includestdio.h
int,main,(,),{,int,i,=,0,;,for,(,i,=,0,i,,10 ( Like that i want to parse
the entire file)

I am new to python.I tried split command.But it can split by using separator.So
i cant exactly tokenize the file as i like.Guys i am really in need of doing
this.Waiting for your replies.
 Thank you.
