Re: [Ilugc] Wanted Coordinator!!

2010-05-29 Thread Parthan SR

Hi,

Having known Bharathi and LUG for a decently long time, and having
worked along side T.Shrinivas on a lot of occasion as a physical
volunteer for LUG, I would give a +1 vote for him. On a lot of occasion
when we direly needed human help he has come forward and given a strong
helping hand. He has also proved himself by grooming Kanchi LUG to be an
active and vibrant community. IMHO, he is the right person to fit into
the shoes of Bharathi, as Raman has declared himself out of the race.

Just to remind, LUG coordinators have always kept a very low profile but
have commanded the respect of the LUG by their dedication and
involvement in leading and organizing LUG activities.

I m in little bit confusion, why can't we have one as co-ordinator and other
as sub-coordinator. I don't know how this idea will be but what I feel that
we need an experience person who has enough knowledge and is participating
in FOSS from long time but if due to any reason he is not available, the
sub-coordinator can take the responsibility.

As a co-ordinator I vote for Mr. Srinivasan T and as sub-coordinator I vote
for Mr. Nambi Welkin.

Its okie in the past, but why cant we have two roles now. In absence of one
let the other one takes his charge.

This is my thought :
AFAIK, ilugc as such is not like a corporate body with finite organisation
structure.
The role of sub co-ordinator is always a make shift arrangement, and this
role can be named when it is needed.
Hypothetically, if the sub-co ordinator is also absent, can we have a deputy
sub co ordinator?.

The present ILUGC structure (or lack of it) is the simplest and still working
setup. Let us not complicate/formalise it further.

Every member should consider himself/herself as co-ordinator/sub
co-ordinator/deputy co-ordinator ... and work for FOSS. Adding more persons as
officials may create groupism which is not there at present.

We believe we had enough discussion on this thread. I hope its time to take
a call on this.

@ Bharathi/Raman, lets officially declare the our coordinator, since Srini
leads the opinion poll, why cant we announce him as the coordinator of the
list, drawing an logical conclusion to this thread right here.

We appreciate the comments from other lug members if any.

I like to convey my warm greetings to Srini.

@Srini, the very first thing what I like to remember you is FOSSCONF 2010.
Lets plan it with the lug and make it happen in ASAP.

I used .net for 2 years during my diploma education, I created three
projects on it, I worked visual studio 2003 and 2005 but what I can say that
it is good when u want to create a small application, actually it is buggy
and waste according to my opinion, where programmer will not be using there
brain.
If I want to create an collaboration application or an application server,
should I use .net?
I think, the answer is no...its the java or python which I should choose to
create such application.

I will continue this thread, sorry little busy now...

Most of the people I know think Linux is very difficult for a layman to
understand. They fear that after installing Linux they will not be able to
do the normal tasks they do with Windows and thus they prefer paying money
to Microsoft instead of even trying Linux.
