[Ilugc] IDE for PHP and joomla theme development work
Hi, A company who's into joomla theme designing and customisation is looking to move from Windows to Linux. The 2 main problems they are facing are:- 1. Replacement for Photoshop. According to them, GIMP is not good enough for their needs. And also, I am myself not competent enough with it either. So, we have kept it as the second issue for now. 2. A replacement for Dreamweaver which they need to use for their coding needs. I would like to get recommendations on what would be a good IDE or any other software to replace Dreamweaver. They intended audience is recent pass outs from engineering colleges around Mumbai. These people are barely familiar with Linux and only thing they have ever used for web designing is Dreamweaver(pirated, of course). We can not expect 100% equivalent alternate software. 1. GIMP is a perfect replacement to photoshop. But, we have to unlearn photoshop or learn gimp. (This is applicable to most of the FOSS alternate software) 2. Eclipse, Quanta, Aptana - Try these things. Migrating to FOSS is a great decision.
