If using a document management system or content management system
fits in to your plans, you may consider KnowledgeTree, which has
configurable workflows. If you are already on Drupal, you may look at
the module "workflow", which lets you control various stages before an
article is published.

Since you are going to use the system for holding the articles for
publication into a pdf document ultimately, in either of the above
systems, defining a workflow state "approved for publishing" as the
final state, instead of "published", should serve the purpose.

Re: [Ilugc] ot:job opportunity - Linux Support Professionals

2009-09-09 Thread Murthy Raju
"support position" does not need to mean a position somehow inferior
to the position of a developer in terms of challenge of the
compensation. Support professional does not automatically mean some
one doing a low end work. Particularly in the area of enterprise
technical support, it is not uncommon to find support professionals
who have as intimate knowledge of a product as the core developers do.
I have had the opportunity to work with quite a few such people. But I
agree that the relative lack of awareness about the nature of
Technical Support industry in India results in many people not
benefiting from the opportunities in this industry. I have seen 2-way
movement between support and areas like professional services, quality
assurance and development and of course more managerially inclined
people move into management. But of course, technical support jobs
come in all shapes and colors just as developer jobs do and one has to
choose the employer right.

Also with commoditization of most software products, more money would
come from services around the product, rather than from the
development of the product and technical support is one such key
service.

Though I am not allowed to talk in great detail about the positions
that I posted about, I can say that some of the very promising Open
Source cloud computing related software would be the focus here.

Murthy Raju

While this list is not meant just for seeking and providing technical

other members of the list and the guidelines followed on Ubuntu forums
may be of interest:
