[Ilugc] [OT] [Request] Need Speaker to undertake a Nokia-Qt Workshop at SRM University

2010-08-03 Thread Shiv Deepak
Hi,

We students at SRM University are organizing our National Level
Departmental Symposium in Sept 2010. This symposium happens once in
every two years.
As it comes under Computer Science Department, we are in need of help
from ILUGC for making this symposium a grand success. Till now we have
discussed and decided some Open Source Technologies and keeping in
mind the latest trends in the IT/Software industry we have sorted out
some topics. One of them is Qt development on Nokia Platform.

If anyone can undertake such workshop/techtalk or know someone
(preferably in Chennai, Bangalore or anywhere else in India) who has
experience on Qt development and can take a workshop for the same then
please reply..

hi ravi,

i have working with ZTE 880+ on ubuntu..
may be it would be similar to the one which you are having right now.

for me the device was a dual mode usb modem..

initially it was acting as USB Storage Device and another mode
"usbserial mode" which was modem.

i have used usb_modeswitch package to resolve this issue..
later used wvdial to make a ppp connection..

check out my blog post, i hope it helps:

Sir, but the month of june is duration of summer vacations.. most of
the students and potential participants cannot participate while they
are at home.. which can be far away from chennai.. i guess if june
month statistics is considered, we should also have to consider the
holidays in colleges during this time so ilugc can never be
endangered.

if by taking image you mean to say you want to take backup of the
current OS then you can consider using the 'dd' command:

here are some details regarding it:

If the existing disk fails, you can boot from the external drive
backup and have your system back instantaneously.

This series will make a DVD backup of hard drive partition:
Code:

dd if=/dev/hda3 of=/home/sam/backup_set_1.img bs=1M count=4430
dd if=/dev/hda3 skip=4430 of=/home/sam/backup_set_2.img bs=1M count=4430
dd if=/dev/hda3 skip=8860 of=/home/sam/backup_set_3.img bs=1M count=4430

And so on. This series will burn the images to DVD+/-R/RW:
Code:

wodim -dev=/dev/hdc --driveropts=burnfree /home/sam/backup_set_1.img

and so forth. To restore the from the backup, load the DVDs in order,
and use commands like these:
Code:

 dd if=/media/dvd/backup_set_1.img of=/dev/hda3 bs=1M conv=sync,noerror

Load another DVD
Code:

dd if=/media/dvd/backup_set_2.img of=/dev/hda3 seek=4430 bs=1M conv=sync,noerror

Load another DVD
Code:

dd if=/media/dvd/backup_set_3.img of=/dev/hda3 seek=8860 bs=1M conv=sync,noerror

and so forth.

@OP
this is what happen to most of us. in a academic or corporate institution.
this doesnot mean we should try to crack their network infrastructure. if
you really want a open Internet connection then buy a PDA or a data card.
use your own private Internet connection and if you want to learn then get
your own infrastructure or join such institution which provide such
courses...

OMG.. OP is using his company email id.. :o

>>You are probably not reading the email properly. I have NO access to any
kind of email, what were you thinking when you said that?

i mean to say that if you are the person who want to learn all this stuff
and do it against that institution then you shouldn't have used the
institution's email ID.. this will reveal not only your identity.. but the
company in which you are working, that could be a threat to you as well as
your company too, do what ever to yourself, no one will say anything... but
to the company.. they never gonna spare you for that..

ethical hacking: this term is rather oxymoron.. hacking is never illegal..
cracking is..

you have to issue the following command from the local system where
xx:xx:xx:xx is the remote server address:
# ssh -D localhost:1080 r...@xx:xx:xx:xx
more on # man ssh ;-)
this will dynamically bind port 1080 on local system to the remote ssh
server.. you can use any web application like web browsers and im clients
which supports socks proxy.. yes you need to configure it to work.. :) for
windows use putty instead for the effect ;-)

did you ever changed your root password?? As it is ubuntu root password has
to be set by the user.. ubuntu people donot provide root access by default.
if you had never changed it then you can change (or create) a new root
password by using current user name and password.
here is how you can:
1. login as current user
2. open terminal and issue following command:
$ sudo passwd root

the above command will ask for current user passwd so to authorize sudo
access then provide new password for root and confirm it..

i hope this had helped :)

but i cannot remember the root password
