It depends. If the poster says it is a link to some article on Ubuntu (say
lwn.net/Articles/6000/) but posts link to some other article (say
lwn.net/Articles/5000 ), yes it leads to wrong place though it is full url.
But my concern is not that. What if poster gave a link for malware site?
while I'll click on lwn.net/Articles/5000 and get into wrong article, I'll
never ever click on malware.net/blah/bla

Please read the para you quoted again. When the original domain has
transfered hands nothing can be done, of course: both full and short urls
will lead nowhere. The question is what will happen when url shortener goes
out "though the actual target URL might still exist" and would have been
perfectly accessible if not for the url obfuscator?

What do you actually want? if you want a bootable and/or autorun options
like cd that is simple to do. Search for 'startup disk creator'.

This link [1] has steps about using tools in Windows and Ubuntu to do the
same. It has steps for doing it manually too which should work for most iso
images and in all Gnu/Linux systems. Similar tools are present in Fedora et
al too. Search for it.

In any case try 'usb_modeswitch -v 0x201e -p 0x2009'

However this assumes that system already knows the target product id and
message string (if different from default). If it doesn't then contact
customer service to get them both and issue 'usb_modeswitch -v 0x201e -p
0x2009 -V 0x201e -P -M '

I agree with this view completely. In recent past I've had problems with
them sometimes in even recognizing wifi, correct monitor settings etc in
Ubuntu as well as Debian. Dell is better in terms of GNU/Linux as far as my
experiences go.

@OP: In any case, can you check if the problem appears after you go into
windows once or just by repeatedly restarting into Ubuntu itself?

This is a community mailing list dedicated to FOSS. Do not use this as a
venue to advertise your site. Your last post too had no connection with
FOSS. Entrepreneurship != FOSS, unless the startup is built on those
technologies and principles.

[Ilugc] Talks in monthly meets

2010-11-23 Thread akila...@gmail.com
In last ILUGC meet it was decided that a wiki page will be created for
requesting talks as majority of people felt that people are not comfortable
with mailing the list/coordinator for the same.

I have created the page [1] and added few topics suggested by the
participants of last meet. Please feel free to add topics of your interest
to the wiki page.

Also it was decided that the topics for meet will be announced early
enabling ILUGC members to schedule their time so that attendance in meet
could be improved. In this regard Raman suggested that confirmed topics be
intimated to the list as and when it occurs instead of waiting for all the
topics to be confirmed. So, if anybody is wiling to give talks for next
meet, please send mail to the coordinator or to the list.

[1] http://wiki.ilugc.in/index.php?title=Talk_Requests

PS: @Shrini, SAG Arun: Can we change captcha settings so that it is
displayed only once during log-in to verify that only a human logs in? It's
a pain to change pages in wiki. It appears for all edits.

these non-sense only when somebody shouts at you?

AFAIK you have received 3 mails from co-ordinator asking you to read the
rules. Did you read it? When you have no time to read and follow few simple
rules, how do you expect everybody else to "reply soon"? Go and read the
rules now! And stop doing stupid stuff.
