It is great that your problem is solved but Please clarify what you mean by "internal switch" in the server. Does the server come with a built in ethernet switch? I have never come across such a thing. It would be great if you could give the hardware details about your server e.g. brand/model of motherboard and the installed cards. -- Arun Khan ___ ILUGC Mailing List: http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc

Hi friends, I found that there is an internal switch in 192.168.48.9 server system. The problem is with the port in internal switch. I changed the port and now everything is fine. I am presuming the "server" is 192.168.48.9 since you have not explicitly stated so. What is your objective for using a /28 netmask? Anyway, with a /28 netmask, the "server" is on a different subnet vis-a-vis your other systems. see [1] and [2] > Now there is no problem in ping command > among 108,109,110 always. Given you are using a /28 netmask this is interesting ... even though the 2 subnets are on the same physical fabric, you would need some kind of routing to occur for ping to work between hosts on the 2 subnets. > If 192.168.48.109 pings the server, > 108,110 did not ping the server. [Ilugc] Can not ping via switch consistently
Hi, I am having a switch ,one server and 3 systems which are connected to the switch. The IPs are 192.168.48.9, 108,109,110 respectively. Netmask is 255.255.240.0 . Now there is no problem in ping command among 108,109,110 always. But i can ping the server from only one system either 108 or 109 or 110. If 192.168.48.109 pings the server, 108,110 did not ping the server. After some interval 192.168.48.110 pings and 192.168.48.109,108 did not ping the server. I also checked the cables. They are all right. What is the problem in network connection? Can someone bring me out? -- with regards Raja Pandi ___ ILUGC Mailing List: http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc
