Re: [Ilugc] Online Education via videos
How well were they received? well the reception from the students side was little but due to certain causes in my case. i work at tiruchendur and have students mostly from the tamil medium stream. they try to listen up but once they feel they dont understand it, they lose interest in it. but as usual there are students who come regularly asking me for more videos. now i concentrate more on them so that they can easily spread it among their students rather than a staff can Any suggestions on what I can do to get my fellow students and faculty more interested? i hope you should make ur friends and class mate look into it first. just tell them something you have learnt additionally from those videos, and peoples interest may be be tuned towards it. getting it through the staff will be tougher. because in most colleges the staff have restriction about what medium to use for teaching. so try it from ur friends Suthan.A ___ ILUGC Mailing List: http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc

I have learnt many yoga poses mainly gymnastic in nature and the advanced ones from youtube. It is wrong to do yoga without a qualified teacher but then with computers and other forms of secular knowledge the best thing to do according to me is to learn on one's own using videos but look at every source with healthy scepticism. Never believe anybody till you have tested it yourself practically. I have written an article about creating screencasts using tools on UNIX like ffmpeg and similar ones like istanbul and recordmydesktop. http://aplawrence.com/Girish/gv-screencast.html But I have not been able to do much on this later.
