I dont know if this solution would work... Host egranary app in port 80..
in the browser, add the url for the egranary in the proxy exclusion list..

In our company we are doing this.. In IE, there is a check box "Bypass
proxy for all intranet URL's"

In this way, the browser automatically bypasses the proxy if an intranet url
is used.

You can use an auto configuration file called proxy.pac, It provides the
flexibility to programatically decide the proxy to use using javascript.

You talk about two solutions here.

 1. A switch in the browser by which the proxy is turned off or on.
 2. The proxy has some switch which allows access to the the
"eGranary" or the internet as per user request.

Which of these solutions do you want to implement.

Kapil.
(who doesn't know what eGranary is)

[Ilugc] eGranary

2008-09-12 Thread Zico
First of all i want to apologize for sending this email into this group.
But, i am not sure in where i can send this email for my solution.

The thing is:

We are implementing to implement the eGranary in our university library.
This eGranary system is in house system, that means, user of this system
will use this system within our network, means, within our university. That
means, 192.168.x.x

We installed this system in our network. Anyone can use it with changing the
default proxy from their web browser. But, the thing is, when any one change
it to use this eGranary, they mostly forgot to re-change the proxy again.
The problem is: next student comes & he/she cannot use internet.

Now, is it possible to handle both system, the normal internet & eGranary in
one browser simultaneously? I want to bring this flexibility to the student
that, no one need to change this proxy anymore, when anyone wants to use
eGranary, he/she can use it; and when anyone wants to user internet, it will
be ok too... in same web browser.I searched but didn`t find too much about
this.
