Hi Do not take me wrong but I think M$ office or OO.o both sucks some how less or more if you guys really want to produce some high quality documents with out any pain then learn .use LaTex if you already know it them Kile is a very good LaTex editor in KDE But if you do not know LaTex you can stilll use it with help of a WYSWYM (What you See What You Mean ) type of editor LyX. What a cool name. 386BSD made the mistake of putting a lot of numbers and weird abbreviations into the name, and is scaring away a lot of people just because it sounds too technical. TeX is for typesetting, and for something called 'document engineering.' no comparison, even though both seem to do the same thing. but the similarity ends there. in the world of software sufism, there is no contradiction. the intelligence of the heart sees that a computer can have both OO.o and teX its tools such as LaTex, KILE, LYX, etc, peacefully co-existing. to this, i'd also add DTP like scribus. as an aside, i can show you many people who handle letters, invoices, etc, all from a spreadsheet rather than a wordprocessor, even though the output is identical. big deal. and btw, i use all three. :-) LL ___ ilugd mailinglist -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://frodo.hserus.net/mailman/listinfo/ilugd Archives at: http://news.gmane.org/gmane.user-groups.linux.delhi http://www.mail-archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/

[ilugd] darwin, macOS portable, etc
dear all, ever since i remarked about the mac on an eye-candy thread, have been wondering about the state-of-the-mac and decided to do some digging. darwin is the name of the core of the mac os, that is based on freeBSD. within the macos layer, a few custom things run over it. gnu-darwin is a project to port darwin to intel. anyone on this list who is using gnu-darwin on an intel? i'd love to hear your comments on this list. many projects that work under linux have been ported successfully to gnu-darwin. finally, for your device-fetish, apple just released the powerpod, that is really a pda, with a 'portable macos'. i bet 50 paise (with myself) that once this device is out, someone is going to hack it and install linux on it. http://www.mobilemag.com/content/100/333/C2687/ :-) LL ___ ilugd mailinglist -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://frodo.hserus.net/mailman/listinfo/ilugd Archives at: http://news.gmane.org/gmane.user-groups.linux.delhi http://www.mail-archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/

Re: [ilugd] Re: ILUGD April Meeting (summing up)
Hi! Now when the topic, date and loction of meet are finalized, its time to go for the requirements for the meet. I believe a full blown installation(30gb) of debian will be a great demo. If some one can bring it preinstalled on a harddisk, it will be great. Alternatively, if someone has a free harddisk and is interested in getting full debian installed on it, can contact me atleast 5 days before meet, so tah i can get debian installed on it. Along with this we can have demo of knoppix and Damn small linux (i have it with me and i will give the demo). Any further suggestions. Re: [ilugd] Suggestion for Lify CD
I suggest adding some OpenGL stuff like Mesa and Open Inventor (libraries) and the OpenGL Red Book (doc). And how about some support for alternative languages like Haskell and Ocaml (or does everyone here use only the old faithfuls?). Some more suggestions - VB clones (Though I have never used one but I hear such beasts exist), Gaming engines like Crystal Space SDK. I'd also suggest wineX but I think it is not freely distributable. How does PCQLinux 2004 include it then? - AJ ___ ilugd mailinglist -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://frodo.hserus.net/mailman/listinfo/ilugd Archives at: http://news.gmane.org/gmane.user-groups.linux.delhi http://www.mail-archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/
