[ilugd] venue for June Themeless Meet on 19th June.

2004-06-13 Thread Tarun Dua
Hi,

We need a venue for the themeless ILUGD meet to be held on 19th June.
The venue should at the minimum provide seating capacity for about 30-35 and
a Linux workstation with OpenOffice and preferably a LCD projector.

bhaskie's call on bluetooth for nokia 6600 is meaningful.
i just bought the same toy about 10 days ago. still haven't bought an
blutooth device, since i wanted to hear from you guys on what works under
 gnuLinux. and how.

also, would be happy if the cognescenti among you could provide tips on
 the following:

 1) i have an airtel pre-paid and am considering my options. is gprs worth
it? what speeds do you get? should i move from airtel to another provider,
or to a post-paid connection? what is the QoS? what are the new, existing
costs? what do you typically use gprs for, on your handheld?
Ask india-gii instead. Normally gprs is only worth it with Hutch that too
with dialup or lower speeds.
 2) have you discovered any gpl (muft and mukt) software for symbian 60? do
 you use any of these?
Google gnome bluetooth
do you think a blog or a wiki, started by bhaskie or
others, is a good idea, for symbian 60 and 90 users in delhi/india who
wish to use gnulinux and muft and mukt software on their new toys?
I don't think it is a good idea until someone thinks this should be done and
goes ahead and does it.
Why should you hint and expect bhaskie or others to fulfill you wish.
You are still volunteering to do it the flowery language doesn't mask your
('evil') intent.

Which kernel does FC1 use? IIRC, the firewire support is so broken[1] on FC2
kernels, it is disabled by default.

Copy from where to where? How? Please supply clarity in your question.
Format of file has nothing to do with non-copying!
Questions: Are you having rights to directory where you are trying to
write these files? From where are you copying? Is the source visible?
Are you using command line or GUI?

hello Sudev
thanks for the response. I was copying the mpeg
avseq.dat files to home from my cdrom drive logged in as root, and was
using GUI. i could not get your point by ' is the source visible.'
 thanks

I was not interested in putting up the logs in public. But quite a few of

Maybe basic HTTP password protected logs will serve the purpose.
The password can be mentioned on channel topic line if need be.
The basic idea is that they shouldn't be crawled and archived by search
engines.
The link you have provided on a heavily crawled mailing list archives is
bound to get them crawled(or has it been done already).
