Don't blame firefox/mozilla if you are trying to write browser specific
(especially IE specific) javascript, and it is not working on Firefox.
Many web developers I know aren't even aware of standards compliant
javascript. e.g. you should always use getElementById() to get an
element in the code. But most of the people still use document.xxx,
which is IE specific.

I suppose that your DHCP server is playing games; The issue could be that the
DHCP did not relay the correct settings till the expiry of the current leases.
After rebooting the system, your DHCP server sent a new leases with probably
updated DNS server's IP and the things started working.

[ilugd] Name Resolution problem

2005-07-14 Thread ASHU
Hi,

I have PIII with 256 MB RAM. Its running Red Hat 7.1 with DHCP, HTTPD,
Squid. Its directly connected to the routher which provides 1 MB leased line
for internet.

Last night i faced a problem of name resolution. If I try to ping
www.yahoo.com , it says host unknown but if I ping IP,
ping reply comes, I lodged the complaint with ISP and according to him its
problem with server and not from their side. He also given me anogher DNS
IP, after putting it, name resolution started working on server, but on
client side problem was same, name resolution was not happening on computers
where interet is working through proxy provided by linux box. Restarted
server for several times but it did not solve the problem.

Than I switched off system for few minuter and than started, surprisingly
now name resolution was happening on my system.

Can anybody help me to recognise if its fault on the server or from ISP
side. Because ISP is stick on his statement that its not a problem from his
side.

Thanks & regards

I tried that it did not work - it refused to pick up the .mozilla stuff.

So I had to open the email client create the same accounts offline and

I think the ."folder" method works for newer versions but cannot be sure.

There is a similar query I made earlier - you may examine the results if

Re: [ilugd] Role of LUGs in Linux events in India

2005-07-14 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Linux is about community and communities are about both giving and
getting / taking.

If vendors can do without LUGS then its not GNU/Linux anymore its no
different from what the open source community has been advocating all
the while. And communities that have a sense of freedom will always get
together and do something about it.

The poweful have a vested interestd in keeping communities / groups of
people and individuals who are not of the same profiteering bent of mind
isolated , their strenght lies in that. If they succeed they can get
away with murder , and they do. But with the power of the net and to be
able to communicate over and above controls that they (the powers ) may
put in, free communities will exists and resist.

Raj said it the community can do without vendors but can they do without
the success story that the GNU/Linux community has weaved.

Firefox and Mozilla will always adhere to the W3C standards (note W3C
standards, not MS). If your JS does not work, the problem is with your
JS, not Firefox. Use the JS debugger that comes in Firefox to locate
the cause of error (it will in Tools menu)

- Make sure that you do not have any running instances of thunderbird.

- Copy your ~/.thunderbird from the older machine to the new machine

- Run thunderbird on the new machine - the first time it runs, it will
automatically start with all your previous settings intact.

- If it does not work, post back your error messages

As usual, if this method burns down your house, I will not be
responsible :-)

On another note, please do not hijack threads. Always start a new thread
instead of taking an already ongoing one, changing the subject line and
posting it again. The subject line is only loosely related to the
threading. Every mail message has a message-id.When you "reply" or
"followup" to a message, you client is supposed to put a References
header with the message-id of the message you are replying to.

If you use an existing thread, the result is that your question is
buried below unrelated questions when looking at the mailing list in a
threaded way. This is known as `Hijacking threads'. It causes
information to be lost and you'll be less likely to get an answer.

Re: [ilugd] exporting mails and settings of MOZILLA!

2005-07-14 Thread Pardeep Garg
Hi Sanju,

Mozillas mail files are in the standard plain text mbox format, which
almost all mail programs can use or import. Many proprietary mail
programs have a function to import from Eudora, which also uses the
mbox format; this function should read your Mozilla mail files
properly.

Your mail files are inside your profile, in the Mail and (if you use
IMAP) ImapMail folders. Each mail folder (Inbox, Sent, etc.) is stored
as two files one with no extension (e.g. INBOX), which is the mail
file itself (in mbox format), and one with an .msf extension (e.g.
INBOX.msf), which is the index (Mail Summary File) to the mail file.
Tell the other program to import mail from the file with no extension.

If you want to transfer a mail file to another Mozilla profile or
another installation of Mozilla, simply put the mail file into the other
installations Mail folder

*
I think this information will help you.
