Re: [ilugd] Help required with LinPus version

2006-02-19 Thread Devendra Laulkar
Hi,

Can anyone plz helpout with Linpus version of linux. I need to chk the
battery backup of my Laptop in this version, but due to absence of a gui
i'm unable to, can anyone suggest some coomand that'll enable me to see the
 details about the battery.

Linpus is a a very minimalistic version of gnu/linux shipped with acer
laptops. I suggest that you replace it with a mainline distro like Mandriva
or something.

However, Acer laptops have problems regarding acpi. There is an kernel patch
called acer_acpi, but I could not get it working. So you won't be able to
check out the battery status. If you do get it working, please let me know.

Which Acer model you are referring to? I have my Acer with ACPI working
which shows me battery status correctly. May be you need newer kernel..
2.6.9 onwards..? Don't know about older kernels. I got it working on
Debian, FC3, and FC4. Never tried on other distros.

[ilugd] ACPI / acpid error

2006-02-19 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Hi

I am getting this error message on a Thinkpad T 43 running Ubuntu 5.04

Can't access ACPI events in /var/run/acpid.socket! Make sure the ACPI
subsystem is working and the acpid daemon is running

Did a google search and found similar errors posted but no easy solution.

Problem is I don't understand what the problem is because this is a
recent error.

Some of the links I checked were (or where I found a mention to this error)
http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=51014highlight=access+ACPI+events

http://www-zeuthen.desy.de/~alorca/linux2onlaptop.html

So can someone suggest what news to be done

regards
ram
