[ilugd] Oracle has now made its low-end, free-of-charge Oracle Database 10g

2006-03-02 Thread ankush grover
hey all,

Oracle has now made its low-end, free-of-charge Oracle Database 10g
Express Edition generally available to the public.

Also known as the XE database, the beta version of the software was
originally launched as a beta product last October.

Oracle had envisaged going for a general release by the end of last
year, but...

I rarely use OpenOffice, but the answer to this was easy to find from
built-in OpenOffice help. Go to the page field in the status bar
(bottom left), right-click, and choose the desired bookmark from the
list.

Yes, and? Your message was blank.

Also, when posting here, please also get rid of the obnoxious
disclaimer, which probably has no legal validity anyway.

actually one could do so ... with the CD by changing the CD references
from one CD to another.
but the beter way of handling this .. is to keep you home directory(I
would reccomend it to be home directory partition) intact and install
on the / partition.

 1. No bandwidth

 2. whatever little rading I have done says don't upgrade

 3. There is a little problem of some maybe corrupted files and am
wondering if a windows type solution of a totally fresh reinstall will
 solve the problem

Hi

Managed successfully to install Ubuntu Breezy. Was worried till it asked
that there were other OS's it recognized and said I should go ahead
and overwirite the MBR allowing for access to the other OS as well.

Thanks

But my problems don't end there

The T43 hangs when restarted from Hibernate, theres no sound

so am working on those now.

machine was back to normal - (well almost if no sound is normal)

why not just hook up an old mobile phone to the Monitoring system and
use that ?

doing alerts over the network ( like email / URL / webservice etc )
brings a massive disadvantage : that the system might be trying to
complain about the same network being out!

Shiv,

my point was that such a sms_gateway is of no use, if the network access
to the sms_gateway itself is going to be down!

and, err... TopPosting sucks..

As a matter of the fact which i believe is one need to use SMS gateway
when you have bulk of messages to be broadcast, for a fewer broadcats a
mobile with a GSM modem should do..
Secondly if i am not wrong mobile will do a serial broadcast and a SMS
gateway can render SMSs almost immediately to all mobile users .?

 Hi ILUGD,

We have to setup the SMS alerts from emails, whenever some problem
occurs in NMS(Network Management System) it generates email and when
that email falls in a mailbox it should do a SMS to a list of mobile

I just want to know what are the service providers for same in around
NCR and anyone using it? any feedback etc

First confirm that acpi is working. One simple way I try is by cat
 /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/info or cat
 /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/THRM/temperature
Maybe gurus can point out better command here.
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/info
present: yes
design capacity: 51840 mWh
last full capacity: 47870 mWh
battery technology: rechargeable
design voltage: 10800 mV
design capacity warning: 2393 mWh
design capacity low: 200 mWh
capacity granularity 1: 1 mWh
capacity granularity 2: 1 mWh
model number:IBM-92P1087
serial number:1988
battery type:LION
OEM info:SANYO

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ls /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/THM0/t
temperature trip_points
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ cat /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/THM0/temperature
temperature: 48 C

what to make of this
