actually one could do so ... with the CD by changing the CD references from one CD to another. but the beter way of handling this .. is to keep you home directory(I would reccomend it to be home directory partition) intact and install on the / partition. cheers vivek On 3/1/06, [EMAIL PROTECTED] <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Gaurav wrote: > > why not this .. > > 1)change all references in your /etc/apt/sources.list from "warty" > > to"hoary" > > 2) sudo apt-get update > > 3) sudo apt-get -f upgrade > > > 1. One simple way I try is by "cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/info" or "cat /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/THRM/temperature" Maybe gurus can point out better command here. If I get intelligent output then instead of hibernate I do "sudo pmi action sleep" and this works with additional benefit that the re-start is much faster. And sound works! Sleep does "Swap to memory" and keeps CPU on with minimal power so that it can sleep for days. Hibernate is "Swap to disk" and does almost a full start.
