[ilugd] Query reg Knoppix PostgreSQL
Hi Every one I have a Question to ask and if some one is experienced in it, then please do shed some light on this topic. a user wants to use knoppix on a project that involves a postgre based software to be used over lan with 5 to 10 clients; similar setup at over 100 locations;to be connected together in future. What are the chances of this succeeding while knoppix gets selected over any other distro ?Can knoppix (installed on hard disk) give this service efficiently ? What can be the pitfalls and problems that can be expected? is it something worthwhile doing ? or is it a failure even before it started? Thanks Reg Nitin __ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Debian's postgres package does not adhere to the normal directories for postgres. I once made a mistake of trying to package a postgres app with Knoppix but it took me days to do it. Not only that, but the init scripts are also not very... normal. I would suggest you either compile postgres from source or make the necessary changes after installing the postgres deb. -- Regards, Silver MoonDragon Shakespeare (Playwright) -- To be or not to be. [ilugd] OT: Volunteers linkages wanted for Indian Lang. localization of IPcop
Hello all Ipcop, an open source SOHO firewall (www.ipcop.org), is looking for volunteers who would help localize the IPcop firewall to Indian languages. I have been using IPcop quite a while now and am planning to help with Hindi. IPcop has been distributed on CD by some leading magazines a few times and does have some presence in India. This to call anyone interested in contributing to the project, by localizing it to his regional Indian language. Contributions will be acknowledged in credits. Anyone interested, please contact me offlist. I seem to remember a couple of groups interested in taking up localization of open source projects, but can't recall the particulars. Anyone recalling such efforts, please post linkage/contact details. Also, please feel free to circulate this request to your local LUG/UG. With best regards.
