[ilugd] ``Best of ILUGD''
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Just thinking out aloud here... I'm not much of a gamer, but I still find the current discussion on gaming on the list fascinating. Tons of points of view and lots of interesting information coming up every day. Gaming isn't an isolated example -- the thread on performance and processors is equally interesting. I hate to think that all this information (and all these opinions) will get lost in the general mailing list archiving in a while, and only be available to searches and nowhere else. So... Would someone like to create and maintain a ``Best of ILUGD mailing list'' page on the Wiki (wiki.linux-delhi.org)? It can be something you do in your spare time, and it need not be limited to one person -- since it's a Wiki you can have multiple contributors. I was envisaging something like a single page with, e.g. headlines and short text for each interesting thread on the mailing list. New thread summaries would be added at the top of the page. Clicking on the headline would get you to the discussion (edited, with attributes), with the interesting stuff available and the cruft (quoted text, irrelevant text, etc.) removed. Note that this is editorial work -- just concatenating all the messages and pasting them into a Wiki page won't help. You'd need to take qualitative decisions on which parts of which posts to include. If done properly, I believe that the page could become a useful and interesting resource for the FOSS community. I've started a prototype page at http://wiki.linux-delhi.org/cgi-bin/twiki/view/Main/BestOfILUGD with a rather bad attempt at summarising the Firefox key behaviour thread. I'm sure the creative people on this list can do a much better job than I for other interesting threads.
