My 1 cents
Interested in setting up the web base..(website,blog,forum,wiki etc)
Moreover If you have lab (no of pc's) then we have group of people who can
happily set it up..

Would be interested and at the same time promote LTSP networking
within their offices. A small group within my organisation does
similar setup and remote support work.

[ilugd] [Commercial]advt. for a programming short term assignement..

2007-10-18 Thread Nikhil Bhargava
Hi,

One of my friend has a small assignment of developing few games. Here is a
description of the programming task.

4 word games have to be built. To get an idea of the functionality needed,
please look at Scrabulous.com. However, these 4 word
games are just a little more complex since they will have parameters other than
those used for Scrabble. Game scores will also
need to be collated.
All four games can be built simultaneously or sequentially. The
interface or the front end of the games will be
similar for all.
The time frame to complete the games can be figured out.

The work will be suitably paid.
If anyone is interested in undertaking something like this than please contact
Preeti @ [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Thanks so much,

Nikhil Bhargava

[ilugd] [OT] {Commercial?} IT Support for a Charity in Delhi

2007-10-18 Thread Karanbir Singh
Hi,

I am looking for someone ( small company, enthu and energy required ) who can
help setup and then manage / support a small number of people who are working
to
start up a charity in Delhi. If you have done some similar work that would
really help, however you are not expected to be a charity yourself - you will
definitely get paid reasonable rates for the work done!

While there is no reason or request from them to actually use Linux, they are
very much OS agnostic and would prefer to work with non commercial solutions.
And I would really like to use the opportunity to help the local Delhi Linux
base.

Unfortunately, I would need to break general LUG ethics and cant mention the
name of the Charity at this point. what I can tell you is that they are backed
by a large business house and are working in the area of medical aid generation
and distribution.

They have a few offices in Delhi and one in Gurgaon so you might need to move
around a bit. Also, they would prefer if the support came from an external
agency or from people working on a consulting / hourly rate rather than having
to hire someone into their organisation.

Sounds interesting ? Drop me an email and we can take it from there.

[ilugd] [CROSS-POSTED] Re: National Policy on ICT in Education

2007-10-18 Thread Raj Mathur

This is important enough to me, and presumably to a number of other
people on these lists. I have started putting my thoughts down on the
web, and invite anyone who wants to contribute to add to them (it's on
a Wiki):
http://wiki.linux-delhi.org/cgi-bin/twiki/view/Main/NationalICTEducation

The document is still quite preliminary and I'm hoping that people more
qualified than me will take some time and help fill in the copious
blanks.

Insh'allah some of the ideas that we come up with would be able to
influence the forthcoming policy in a positive direction. I have just
one request, which is to avoid jingoistic anti-MS statements that may
end up making the whole document unpalatable to policy makers (this is
specifically aimed at the Linux/FOSS community ;) Here the subtle
knife may be preferable to the blunt hammer.

Note that you will have to register on the Wiki before you can edit the
page. Your account details will remain confidential.

Regards,
