If you want LVM to watch out only for certain type of devices, you have to put an appropriate filter. e.g to exclude CDROM you may put filter = [ r|/dev/cdrom| ] Given your requirement, you may try filter = [ a/sda[1-9]$/ a/emcpower.*/ r/.*/ ] And don't forget to run vgscan -vv after making changes to lvm.conf, also be careful if running on production, keeping the backup of lvm.conf is must.
