Hey Niyam,
I think you are right, but we (Jaypee LUG) are trying to promote the culture
here also We have seen a considerable increase in the usage of Linux and
OSS in our college, at least. We have planned and conducted events in the
past and are planning a few events for this month also.
We would highly appreciate, if you could come here for some talk or
something. Though the things are not finalised, some planning is left. I
will tell you as soon as a draft is prepared. In fact everyone who is
interested in coming to Solan (H.P.), in this beautiful weather is invited.
;)

 Hi all,
In fact something more about what the book is all about, who has
written it, how many pages, who is it targeted at would be nice to
 know.

the book which we distributed it was based on some computer basics, like
hardware concepts and basics of o/s,it was not about FOSS.
But few days back one of my friend has started writing a book on FOSS.

Thanks
Vijay

 Dear friends,

Hi all,

i want to share some moments during which we conducted FOSS seminar in
 chandigarh and nurpur (H.P).
we conducted seminar in Nurpur where IT people from the surrounding location
of nurpur attended the seminar in 21st dec 2008.
 *In Nurpur *
we distributed free computer book from the behalf
of Laxmi publication with the support of Mr. nayyar.
we gave the awareness to people to jump to FOSS if
they are not able to pay for propreitary software.
  we gave free computer assembling/disassembling
 workshop there.

Cool.

 *In Chandigarh*
we conducted the use FOSS awareness programe.
we conducted the fedora desktop training (open
office, livena many more) to our students working in different companines.

Cool as well.

I also liked linux lingam's addition to it. Actually I would be coming
to Delhi on 19th and be there till the 23rd of Feb. and from then on
H.P. specifically Mcleodganj for about a month or 2 months (some
sighseeing and perhaps some work). Lemme know off-list if somebody has
some initiatives in Northern India near the Himalayas as well :)

 *enjoy linux, feel free open*

Great work Navneet. There is a dormant local Chandigarh Lug
(linux_chandig...@yahoogroups.co.in), if you mail them someone
from there might come forward to help you in the future.
And thanks for the offer Niyam, well except for cpl of institutes most
are ignorant about Linux/OSS.
