umm.. I tried the verbose mode but somehow never saw any messages -
either on console or in logs. (I am/was using version 1.0)

According to logs, it appears that crclient does retry every 30 secs. upon
disconnection. I could be wrong. And Daemontools sound like a lot of
bother.

it does show the message if yu run it in verbose mode. also if yu use
daemontools to run that thing the logs are stored in a file.

yet again, if yu use daemontools to run it, it keeps on retrying till
the connection is established.

but anyway, linc sounds simpler to use than setting up daemontools for
cyberoam client, though at present no intentions to change to linc as
cyberoam working fine for me :-)

Yesterday I migrated from crclient to linc, for two reasons:
  1. crclient won't show the messages broadcast by the crserver
linc logs broadcast messages sent while logging in and out
  2. AFAIK, crclient does not try to reconnect if disconnected
linc runs in daemon mode and tries reconnection

All I had to do was to simply download linc source; configure, compile and
install using instructions in the README. I didn't even have to use
GenLincRC, as it will accept your ethernet card's MAC/HW address (that you
can get from arp or ifconfig command).

HTH,

maybe yu want to look at a small howto on using Cyberoam client on linux
at http://www.exain.net/vike/linux/

i'm not using linc, but the default cyberoam client & it works
wonderfully for me. however for RedHat 9, there is a minor update, i.e.
yu'll need to download the daemontools version for RedHat 9 which yu can
get at the following location or put a query on google with keywords
"daemontools redhat 9 rpm"

http://summersoft.fay.ar.us/pub/qmail/daemontools/redhat-9/daemontools-0.76-2.i386.rpm

hope it helps

Don't know about crclient and cyberoamclient, but linc works just fine
for me. I had to do some magic in the beginning and use tcpdump to
generate /etc/lincrc, but after that it's worked beautifully.

Nowadays I believe you can use GenLincRC to generate the lincrc file,
so things should be even easier. Unfortunately GenLincRC only works
under Winduhs, so install GenLincRC on some partition, get your
Winduhs live CD out (I presume there's such a thing :) , runs
GenLincRC and create lincrc. Move it to /etc and you're ready to go!

BTW, you didn't answer Sandip's question: what DO you mean ``didn't
work''?

The person is not looking for the cyberoam server - just the client. The

completely open source. It is perfectly legal, IMHO, to use such a client
when you have a proper cyberoam account.
