Re: [ilugd] drivers for broadcom bcm4312 802.11b/g(rev 01) on centOS

Also, you could try using the drivers from this Feisty HowTo for
ndiswrapper. They've sourced them from the Compaq website(step 2b for.
bcm4312 revision 01) and used cabextract. Or you could use the ZIP
 file here - http://uploading.com/files/VXHOYZLY/bcm4312rev01.zip.html

Hi,
I followed the HowTo, step 2e worked for me, since my chipset pci id
was different from the one in 2b.
Now that I have wlan0 up, I don't think it will work in raw monitor
mode since the driver is installed via ndiswrapper.
Which brings me to my next question. Does anybody know of a usb-dongle
that will work in monitor mode. I do not have pcmcia card
slot and the dell people tell me that no other wifi card will be
supported by my notebook's motherboard. So I cant shift to the intel
interfaces.
The usb-dongle being my only option (i think). I am looking at
Airlink101 AWLL3026. From what I read, it really works well, including
injection.

Please advice me of what usb option I should go for. And if you know
any reseller in Delhi, do let me know

Thanks.

Regards,
guru

[ilugd] drivers for broadcom bcm4312 802.11b/g(rev 01) on centOS

2009-04-29 Thread gurteshwar singh
Hi,
I am trying to configure wireless on my Dell inspiron 15 notebook
using centOS. This may seem like a repost. I had asked this question
about a month back but then i went home and had no wireless available
so wasn't able to try any of the suggestions. As suggested by Raj and
Karanbir I downloaded the driver for xp from the dell website and
tried to install it using ndiswrapper.

I unzipped the .exe and installed netathw.inf. ndiswrapper -l tells me
invalid driver! I expected this since the dell website states that the
xp driver applies to only the Wireless 1515 (11agn) WLAN half
mini-card (Atheros). I have a Dell Wireless 1397 802.11b/g Half Mini
Card. The driver for Vista seems to support this card. The problem now
is that I am unable to extract the .inf (or anything else) from .exe
provided for vista. I tried unzip, cabextract and even wine, but all
failed.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards,
guru

The following page has native Linux drivers that you can compile for
the bcm43xx chipsets:
