Re: [ilugd] weedshare music

hey all,

think the idea is kewl. except there are several '..encouraged to...'
clauses in there which leave a lot of scope for uncertainty.

nonetheless if ppl are willing to pay for what they get there is no reason
why this cant be done, except perhaps a technical one.

how does the artist come into picture here is a technical issue, i think.
perhaps i am un-awares of something that you guyz know. so if someone could
elaborate on that.

Because they don't trust you. You need their software to play their
music, and it only runs on Winduhs anyway.

Gnutella is better? ;)

[ilugd] weedshare music

2003-10-20 Thread LinuxLingam
here's an interesting idea:
http://www.weedshare.com/

basically, P2P music-sharing with a twist. bypass RIAA. users are
encouraged to download music, pay for it, 50% goes to the artist (that's
nice), and users are *encouraged* and *rewarded in cash* to share the
music further.

check out the details.

however, i don't like the 15% goes to weedshare part. why can't the
community create an alternative with just two people in the equation:
the artist, and the fan. plus the software for P2P. no middle-man.

also, why can't they use ogg vorbis and even raw cd tracks format?

what do you guys think?
